If so, the Geographic Data Services Bureau at Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks is recruiting for a GIS Programmer/Analyst. This is a unique opportunity for a GIS professional with a passion for Montana’s fish, wildlife and recreational resources who wants to use their experience and skills to benefit a fish and wildlife agency. The ideal candidate will have exceptional programming and GIS skills, be an excellent communicator, analytical, focused, detail oriented, possess a strong work ethic and have a positive attitude. Experience serving in a lead capacity on GIS application development and infrastructure design is necessary and a background in natural resources or biology is highly desired. FWP uses the Esri suite including ArcGIS Pro, and ArcGIS Online tools including Experience Builder, Field Maps, and Survey123. The ideal candidate has experience with these technologies in addition to programing experience. This position requires that you work independently on multiple priorities, with diverse groups of people, and that you work well in a team environment with excellent time management skills to ensure deadlines are met. Requirements: • A minimum of five (5) years of programming experience directly related to GIS and mapping applications excluding internships and TA/lab assistant positions. • Extensive experience (5 years) with GIS applications, tools, and resources, including geodatabase configuration and management, geoprocessing, and location-based services. Software used will include the Esri Suite: ArcGIS Desktop/Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise and ArcGIS Online. • Extensive experience (5 years) with Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS) and associated code used to access, analyze, and manage data stored in multiple systems and databases (Oracle relational databases, Oracle PL/SQL). • Experience using and extending applicable packages and API's, specifically those from ESRI such as ArcGIS Maps SDKs for Native Apps (Kotlin, Swift and/or Qt Maps SDK’s), ArcGIS API for Python and JavaScript. • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including ability to communicate technical information to diverse levels of management and customers • Working knowledge of biology or natural resource management principles, practices, and methods and/or closely related. • Bachelor’s degree in geographic information systems/geography, wildlife or fisheries biology and/or management, natural resource management, or a similar academic field AND a minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience in a related profession. • The position requires education and experience equivalent to a bachelor’ degree in Geography/GIS, Computer Science, Forestry, Natural Resource Management, or a similar academic field. • Five (5) years progressive experience in a related profession. • Other combinations of education and professional experience may be considered. Other benefits include retirement, paid vacation, sick and holidays. *Job Duties (narrative summary): This position is responsible for developing and maintaining GIS mapping applications,data development and workflow managementin an enterprise environment. This position’s duties include collaborating on GIS application development and design, including development of GIS architecture, data management, development processes, coding, testing and documentation. The incumbent is part of a team responsible for development of data delivery systems and end user tools and routinely monitors applications to ensure health and security of enterprise applications. Systems include mapping applications, stand-alone systems, internal sites, and other technologies. Minimum Qualifications (Education and Experience): The knowledge, skills, and abilities of this position are normally attained through combination of education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree in geographic information systems, information management, wildlife or fisheries biology and/or management, natural resources, geography, computer science or a related field AND 5 or more years of progressive experience in a related profession.
