POSITION PURPOSE

The successful candidate will be based at the Red Lion Plant in Delaware City, DE and will provide technical process expertise and support to the site operations team. The Process Engineer will be responsible for leading product quality initiatives, conducting process capability studies, and identifying and implementing improvement opportunities related to uptime, quality, capacity, energy efficiency, and waste reduction. Responsibilities also include implementing changes through management of change procedures, overseeing capital projects, troubleshooting, and ensuring environmental compliance. The engineer will participate in the design, implementation, and startup of new or improved processes in the existing production facility, including the process hazards analysis. This role involves collaboration with external customers, environmental and safety teams, and other technical resources. Additionally, the engineer will network and leverage capabilities with sister facilities and occasionally provide support within the Nexpera circuit.


PRIMARY DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES (but not limited to):

  • Lead product quality and process capability improvement initiatives
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with or lead diverse teams with the capability to influence operators and mechanics, colleagues, site management and business leadership in support of improved business results through significant initiatives as well as complex process and mechanical improvement strategies
  • Higher level process and operations monitoring and utilizing data including statistical methodologies and process expertise to recommend and implement improvements
  • Technically supporting and coordinating improvement projects, day to day operations, trouble shooting, capital projects and shutdowns.
  • Help train personnel and improve and enhance operator capability
  • Support capital projects by participating in equipment criteria, specification, and review to optimize reliability and cost
  • Participate in and /or lead Incident Investigations and Process Hazards Analysis (PHA) teams


Qualifications

In order to be qualified for this role, the following is required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering or equivalent
  • 0-8 years’ experience as a chemical engineer
  • Experience with high hazard chemical manufacturing
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment preferably with high hazard chemicals
  • Experience with Six Sigma or other process improvement methodologies
  • Experience managing capital projects from conception through implementation
  • Proficiency in process simulation software preferred (e.g., Aspen HYSYS, ChemCAD)
  • Experience with PSM programs and compliance
  • Demonstrated strengths in getting results, meeting commitments, problem solving and continuous improvement
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with or lead diverse teams including operators, mechanics, management, other engineers and leaders
  • Due to the team setting in the plant and in the acid circuit, the engineer must have strong communication, critical thinking, leadership, teamwork, time management, and documentation skills.
  • Individual must possess a Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC) or obtain a TWIC once employed
