POSITION SUMMARY:

The Urban Land Institute (ULI), the oldest and largest network of cross-disciplinary real estate and land use experts in the world, is looking for a Graphic Designer to help bring our mission—shape the future of the built environment for transformative impact in communities worldwide—to life. This individual will be responsible for working with our Creative Team and freelance collaborators to translate ideas into compelling visual assets across multi-media formats that align with our brand identity and objectives.

The position is full-time, exempt, and located in Washington, D.C. It reports to the Creative Services Director.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Collaborate with internal clients including the Member Experience, Event Marketing, Content Marketing – program leads, and Editorial teams to execute on brand and engaging designs and end products that will focus on driving awareness, consideration, and engagement across a diverse set of audiences.
  2. Assist in creating on-brand graphic presentations that communicate mood, emphasis, insight, viewpoint, and similar visual impressions, and interpretive themes that convey ideas and information clearly.
  3. Conceptualize and design captivating visuals for print and digital media, including but not limited to advertisements, brochures, social media graphics, website elements, infographics, and presentations.
  4. Conceive, design, layout, and coordinate editorial illustrations and creative artwork for program collateral such as magazines, brochures, displays, and posters, translating facts and features of subject material into graphic terms that best convey the intended meaning.
  5. Advocate for strong design across media and “customer first” approaches to experience design and delivery.
  6. Keep current on ever-evolving “best practices” in design approaches, techniques, and toolsets.
  7. Assist with the intake of incoming design requests that arrive through multiple communication channels.
  8. Conduct thorough reviews and quality checks on final designs to ensure accuracy, consistency, and alignment with project objectives and specifications.
  9. Identify and address any design-related issues or discrepancies promptly to maintain the highest level of quality and professionalism.

EXPERIENCE:

  1. 2 to 4 years of related experience.
  2. Bachelor’s degree in or comparable work in a membership association, B2B, B2C, or advertising environment.
  3. Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office Suite software.
  4. A demonstrated problem-solver and strong graphic layout designer.
  5. Experience with contemporary data visualization tools (D3, PowerBI, Tableau, Qlik, Spotfire, R (ggplot), Python (madplotlib), or similar) a plus.
  6. Basic knowledge of HTML 5, CSS, and social media is a plus.
  7. Working knowledge of ticketing systems and project management systems (Robohead, Jira, Monday, Zendesk, etc.)
  8. Experience with experiential/environmental design and/or multimedia a plus.
