Senior Data Engineering Manager

Data Engineers at NCR Atleos experience working at one of the largest and most recognized financial companies in the world, while being part of a software development team responsible for next generation technologies and solutions. Our engineers design and build large scale data storage, computation and distribution systems. They partner with data and analytics experts to deliver high quality analytical and derived data to our consumers.
We are looking for a senior level data engineer who can lead a global team of engineers to drive innovation around our data platforms, modernize them, and solve complex data problems that are unique to our global financial services network. The ideal candidate will leverage their unique skills, curiosity, drive, and passion for technology to mentor the team and help them grow professionally.
Position Summary & Key Areas of Responsibility
As a Data Engineering Manager, you will be leading our Data Engineering & Modernization team to engineer and transform our data platforms and products. In this role, you are expected to:
- Be involved in each data project from inception to understand requirements, architect, develop, deploy, and maintain data platforms and delivered products.
- Lead the team to build scalable data pipelines to extract raw data, validate its quality, track lineage, detect anomalies and ensure proper delivery.
- Lead the team to develop data tooling that transforms, manages, and accesses data.
- Oversee the implementation of performance monitoring protocols across data pipelines, coaching the team on building visualizations and aggregations to monitor pipeline health.
- Identify data governance needs, overseeing the design of data modeling and handling procedures.
- Prepare team members for meetings with appropriate stakeholders across teams and address concerns around data requirements.
- Work in a multi-disciplinary, agile squad which involves partnering with program and product managers.
- Maintain collaborative working relationships with teams within the NCR Atleos technology organization.
Basic Qualifications
- BA/BS in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience
- At least 9+ years’ experience designing and building distributed data platforms.
- At least 2+ years’ experience as a data engineering manager.
- Hands-on experience designing, developing and maintaining cloud-based data lake/data lake house platforms.
- Experience with open source projects and open data formats.
- Experience designing, developing, automated data testing, scheduling and maintaining data pipelines.
- Experience with programming languages like Python, Java, Scala.
- Experience with cloud-based platforms, such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
- Experience with dev ops tools.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and strong communication skills.
- Passion for learning with a proactive mindset.

- Experience applying machine learning and AI techniques.
- Experience with modern database DevOps tools.
- Experience with virtualization and containerizing.
