Job Title: Senior CSA Engineer

Location: Devonport (Plymouth)

Contract: Inside IR35

Role Duties:

  1. The primary purpose of the role is to assist and support the Design Manager in the delivery of project scope.
  2. Undertake the delivery of civil/structural engineering work packages to the required scope, quality, schedule, and cost.
  3. Manage the technical aspects of the engineering packages from identification of the need through to handover.
  4. Manage one or more technical design packages, agreeing project-related objectives, managing designer performance, and making appropriate technical management responses.
  5. Provide advice as per discipline.
  6. Ensure that the design documentation covers the scope of operations required by the Project Manager and is produced to agreed standards, schedule, and budget.
  7. Ensure effective Quality Management Arrangements, operating and delivering through compliance with our clients' Business Management System and Technical Manual.
  8. Ensure that the processes and activities being managed are appropriately documented with appropriate records maintained and configuration and quality controls applied.
  9. Ensure that staff and contractors are familiar with the hazards and risks associated with the work undertaken by the delegated engineering team through effective management and communication of the Risk Assessment.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Competences:

  1. Design and substantiation of heavy civil engineering and building structures, with particular experience in dock structures.
  2. Knowledge of architectural design of industrial buildings.
  3. Knowledge of building services design and installation.
  4. Preferably experience of relevant seismic codes for satisfying Nuclear Safety Functions.
  5. Preferably knowledge of construction techniques employed for Nuclear Safety related structures and buildings.
  6. Demonstrated relevant knowledge and skills required in the technical management of complex design development throughout the design lifecycle.
  7. A track record in Structural/Civil design in a comparable environment.
  8. Experience working in a multi-discipline environment with multiple interfaces.
  9. Sound understanding of engineering design and safety practice as relevant to discipline, post, and project requirements.
  10. Sound understanding of procedures relating to Design, Health & Safety, and Quality requirements, and ability to manage projects in accordance with these procedures.
  11. Preferably experience of design support to construction, operation, refit/repair of conventional and nuclear submarines and/or facilities.
  12. A professional level of competence in documentation, calculation, and drawings (CAD by others).
  13. Working knowledge of relevant engineering computer applications.
  14. The ability to follow an engineering process and maintain accurate records and document/drawing revision control.
  15. A proven track record in completing work packages in a highly regulated environment would be desirable.

Qualifications:

  1. The candidate will have a degree or equivalent in a Civil or Structural engineering related discipline.
  2. Preferably Chartered Engineer status and member of a relevant institution or significant demonstrable engineering experience and capable of registration with the Engineering Council at CEng level.
