Join Our Team as a Supplier Quality Engineer!
Are you passionate about Quality Assurance? S&C Electric Company is seeking a dynamic individual to join our QA department. As a Supplier Quality Engineer, you'll be crucial in ensuring smooth operations and supporting our diverse team.
The Quality Assurance organization provides a variety of services aimed at helping our internal customers, which include S&C leaders and team members, deliver superior quality to our customers. Quality planning, inspection, audit, quality information, quality improvement consulting, and quality communications are examples of the kind of services the organization provides.
Reporting to the Assistant Manager - Supplier Quality, this position will primarily be responsible for working with cross functional team members to identify and address quality issues related to electrical components and control systems. We are looking for a professional with experience in Supplier Quality Engineering or Electrical Engineering and strong problem-solving skills.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Work with internal cross functional teams to review upcoming projects, current part quality, specifications, etc.
  • Work with suppliers to improve quality performance, implement process controls and reduce the cost of poor quality for suppliers and S&C.
  • Utilize Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) tools for new product, revisions, and/or supplier changes.
  • Utilize various Continuous Improvement and Lean methodologies to develop key suppliers, product lines, and manage the project schedules of these activities.
  • Verify suppliers are continuously adhering to their Control Plan and standard operating procedures.
  • Problem-solve quality issues with the supplier, Sourcing, Product Engineering, and Production Operations staff to assure that Supplier Corrective Action Plans are developed and executed.
  • Provide input into Supplier Selection processes so that suppliers are awarded based on Total Cost of Ownership models rather than chosen solely for commercial reasons.
  • Perform supplier evaluations as part of cross-functional teams.
What you'll Need To Succeed:
Required
  • BS in a Mechanical/Electrical/Electronics engineering or technical discipline.
  • Knowledge of mechanical parts and circuit board/PCBA manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of functional & ICT testing, failure analysis capability and environmental testing.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and diagrams
  • Demonstrated skill in effective problem-solving and communication across all levels of organization related to concepts of supplier quality, production and process controls.
  • Experience with various manufacturing technologies and methods.
  • Knowledge of NMR/NCR, DR, ECO, and SCAR processes. Experience with quality management system tools, APQP, and continuous improvement tools from Lean and Six Sigma Management Systems.
  • Strong collaboration, influencing, negotiation & conflict resolution skills.
  • Proficient in the use of mechanical, electrical and electronic inspection tools & equipment.

Excellent skills in data analysis and data management using Excel, Access, or other PC platform software
