Position Summary Description
Under directive engineering supervision, responsible for creating and updating construction drawings for new and existing Seminole Transmission and Substation facilities. Provides document and revision controls for the entire Seminole drawing system, including the power plants, renewable sites, transmission engineering and civil departments. Works independently to read and understand the content of drawings, notes, common drawings symbols, acronyms, and notations. Works with project team members and stakeholders and on occasion. Will be responsible for creating conceptual and/or construction sketches, as-builts, and/or Transmission and substation drawing packages. Maintains the Drawing Management System (DMS), searches for, retrieves and print files from the DMS, creates new, revises existing drawings, and promotes adherence to effective controlled document management and controls.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
High School Diploma/GED and five (5) years' experience in substation project engineering and design or an Associates Degree in a technical-related field (Electrical / Mechanical / Civil Engineering Technology) and minimum three (3) years' experience substation project engineering and design. AutoCAD Certification is required.

Essential Functions
  • Reads and prepares civil/structural, mechanical, physical/electrical and protection and control drawings and diagrams, utilizing CAD and/or Hybrid Software, from sketches, general outlines, manufacturer's drawings, or catalogs, standards and similar data.
  • Performs moderately complex design principles and practices on daily work assignments.
  • Understands and processes drawings and engineering information, utilizing company drawing database software, for proper storage and revision control.
  • Interprets multi-discipline engineering documents.
  • Maintains thorough knowledge and understanding of engineering standards, symbolism and terminology in drawing/drafting applications.
  • Applies engineering principles and established design practices in developing moderately complex design concepts and preparing deliverables including sketches and drawings.
  • Coordinates with other personnel to review and exchange project information necessary for design development.
  • Performs specific design functions for the project as assigned, processes work assignments, and maintains schedules and records.
  • Ensures that the design concept and drawings are complete, meeting requirements, applicable codes and standards.
  • Conducts field investigations, evaluates possible design alternatives, determines the appropriate standards and/or specifications; prepares accurate construction drawings and material/labor estimates; assist in engineering calculations, studies, and reports related to his/her work.
  • Ensures design concepts and drawings are compliant with recommended practices, sketches, notes, and other input material.
  • Maintains fluency with project management and construction drawing processes and practices.
  • Maintains familiarity with the drawing management systems and the ability to utilize the system to access, print, store, view, and search for drawings and other controlled documents.
  • Performs NERC Compliance Program roles if/as designated in Seminole's Standard Ownership Matrix (SOM) including ongoing evidence retention in "audit-ready" form as applicable and directed. You should also be familiar with Seminole's Enterprise Internal Compliance Program (ENT-GCD-RGC-EP-054) to further your understanding of Seminole's compliance program and the context of your duties and responsibilities attendant to your designation in the SOM.
  • Performs other duties as applicable to the position or as assigned.

Physical Requirements
Must be able to follow established protective measures including wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE). Must possess a valid driver's license and acceptable Motor Vehicle Report.
Working Conditions
Some travel and work outside of normal business hours. While working in substations there are the potential for exposure to hazards typical of a utility working environment.
