Senior Optical Engineering Leader

We are seeking a Senior Optical Engineering Leader to join our team in San Diego, CA. You will lead design, development, and demonstration of new optical technologies, collaborate with the optical designers, and contribute to novel payload concepts. Primary Responsibilities

• Lead trades analyses in performance and size, weight, and power for satellite optical payloads
• Utilize modeling tools to develop insights in co-design of different optical technologies
• Collaborate with optical designers and team mates to evaluate and mature optics technologies
• Develop a roadmap of novel imaging technologies for future space systems

Basic Qualifications

• BS in Engineering, Physics, optics, or equivalent field with 12+ years of prior relevant experience
• US citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance
• Expertise in performance evaluations of optical components
• Proficient experience with finite element-based design tools
• Excellent communication skills and proven ability to work directly with customers
• Robust sense of initiative and ability to work independently

Preferred Qualifications

• Active TS or TS/SCI security clearance
• Experience in developing hybrid optical systems with novel optical components
• Experience with fabrication and characterization of optics
• Experience in proposal development and business development
