Job Purpose

What you’ll do as a Lead Software Engineer at National Grid...

  • Collaborates with development teams and business units to turn business needs into technology solutions by identifying, defining, developing/modifying, and implementing domain driven micro service APIs in Azure products applying twelve factor app concepts.
  • You will be seen as a leader and subject matter expert in Azure and will mentor Engineers.
  • Perform complex analysis, design, development, testing, and debugging of computer system application software.
  • You will ensure that the responsiveness and performance of applications are high quality.
  • You will be a part of maintaining high code quality.
  • Perform activities ranging from software design, operating architecture integration, and selection of computer systems.
  • Possesses the ability to grow technically and maintain a customer-first mentality, the motivation to take the initiative to own and resolve issues.
Qualifications

What you’ll need...

  • Education: 4-year college degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. Prefer an academic background in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related technical field.
  • 8+ years of technical contribution in a structured team environment.
  • Azure cloud knowledge and experience in architecting, configuring, and deploying with Advanced Kubernetes and AKS, APIM and Azure networking architecture (staff level - in designing twelve factor apps).
  • Experience in implementing pipelines for container apps (i.e. Docker) in GitHub Actions and deployments using ArgoCD. Experience with Bicep and ARM templates.
  • 8+ years of experience with .Net core, C# containerized applications (i.e. Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Architected and led the development of complex enterprise systems with microservices at scale and domain driven design.
  • Previous experience introducing technical innovation resulting in significant value to the organization.
  • Expertise in domain driven design, microservice architecture, RESTful APIs, and cloud computing.
  • Experience in building high traffic, high reliability, and secure back end applications.
  • Experience in JavaScript, React, Redux experience nice to have.

Candidates must be based or be open to relocating to MA, NY, NJ, NH, CT, RI, ME, VT or PA. For Candidates within these States it’s a hybrid role i.e., occasional travel to our corporate hub. The frequency being roughly once a quarter.

Salary

$142,000 - $167,000 a year.

Please be advised that due to the nature of this position, incumbents are subject to federal Drug & Alcohol safety regulations governing US Department of Transportation ('DOT') covered positions, including the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) and Pipeline Hazardous Material Safety Administration (PHMSA). As such, the Company’s testing programs and policies regarding the use of federally prohibited drugs or alcohol, for recreational or medical purposes, will remain in effect for these safety-sensitive, DOT covered positions.
