LEAD SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER

We are seeking a Senior-level professional who possesses proven working knowledge of space launch and on-orbit operations, mission infrastructure, and mission requirements integration. The candidate will develop briefings and assessments for a variety of Government customers and audiences and must be able to convey information in a clear and articulate manner, as well as clearly communicate the impacts, effects, and interconnections with other NOPS mission parameters to all levels of Government leadership.

Responsibilities include:

1. Lead software engineering team in development and sustainment processes of the NOPS LANCE system supporting satellite on-orbit and launch activities.
2. Participate in an Agile software development environment to design and develop software builds, provide input to formal testing, assist in integration, and respond to user concerns.
3. Collaborate with engineering staff, operators, customers, and vendors on a regular basis to support the engineering process, collect/clarify software requirements, and coordinate integration with COTS products.
4. Maintain software documentation for configuration and baseline control.
5. Supervise multiple development and sustainment software projects.
6. Manage and organize software engineering team to meet software project needs.
7. Participate in software design activities for system upgrades and modifications.
8. Develop, execute, and maintain the NOPS Software Development Plan.
9. Coordinate closely with team members, Product Owners, and Scrum Masters to ensure User Story alignment and implementation to customer use cases.
10. Review and provide analysis of software requirements to help determine feasibility of design within time and cost constraints.
11. Establish training for software engineering team that supports cross-training and knowledge sharing.
12. Document and demonstrate solutions by developing documentation, flowcharts, layouts, diagrams, charts, code comments, and clear code.
13. Prepare and install solutions by determining and designing system specifications, standards, and programming.
14. Improve operations by conducting systems analysis; recommending changes in policies and procedures.
15. Provide input to user training on developed software.
16. Develop software solutions by studying information needs; conferring with users; studying systems flow, data usage, and work processes; investigating problem areas.

Position is contingent upon successful contract award.

• Must be a U.S. Citizen with an existing TS Collateral and be eligible for an immediate elevation to TS/SCI with polygraph.
• 7 years software engineering experience.
• BS in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
• Experience in working within an Agile methodology.
• Software language experience: Java, C, C++.
• Highly responsible, team-oriented individual with a strong work ethic.
• Effective organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
• Substantive experience providing strategic planning, risk assessments, and risk-management recommendations to program managers in support of successful mission accomplishment.
• Demonstrated success in the ability to prioritize tasks and manage and supervise team members in supporting mission accomplishment.

Desired Skills/Experience

• MS in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
• 8+ years space launch or on-orbit satellite ops experience.
• NRO experience.
• Experience with agile management tools.
• Thorough understanding of launch vehicle and satellite launch ascent, test, and on-orbit operational processes, practices, and procedures.
• Thorough knowledge of Government launch policy and procedures.
• Thorough understanding of Government Satellite Vehicle launch and on-orbit interface requirements.
• Extensive knowledge of systems engineering practices, requirements management, and sustainment/logistics practices.

Competitive salary based on experience and education. Salary Range: $127,000 - $147,000.
