Network Security Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Network & Security Engineer to take charge of the security and management of our expanding network infrastructure. This role is pivotal in ensuring the stability, security, and efficiency of our network while supporting a range of Unix/Linux servers, databases, and services.

Key Responsibilities:

• Network Security: Implement security protocols across the entire network infrastructure.
• Server Management: Install and manage physical and VMware Unix/Linux servers running services like Nagios, Radius, Apache, and custom programs.
• Database Support: Manage MySQL and PostgreSQL databases for new and existing services.
• Collaboration: Work with Engineering and senior team members to design and implement technologies like CMTS, DSL, FTTP, and Metro Ethernet.
• Technical Problem-Solving: Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software issues across the network.
• Documentation: Maintain and update network topology, IP addresses, circuits, and equipment documentation using Excel, Word, and Visio.

Requirements:

• Experience: Minimum 4 years of networking experience and 3 years with Linux/Unix.
• Technical Proficiency: Strong understanding of network protocols (IPv4/IPv6, OSPF, ICMP) and hands-on use of routing, switching, security, and wireless technologies.
• Skills: Proficient in programming/scripting languages (Perl, Java) and network tools (Nagios, Cacti, Serv-Assure).
• Certifications: Desired certifications include JNCIx, CCNx, Linux+, or equivalent.
• Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., work in confined spaces, and participate in on-call duty rotation.
