The Packaging Engineer Intern will be focused on packaging optimization. This individual will work on right sizing our secondary and tertiary packaging utilizing TOPS pallet pattern software to maximum pallet efficiencies, develop a process around incoming inspection and verification of product vs. specifications and conduct packaging compression tests and strength analysis based on improved packaging recommendations. Expected Benefit to Intern/Expected Benefit to Organization: The main project has the potential to provide upwards of $1M in cost savings per year. The intern will be leading the project with the support of QA and Logistics The intern will gain real world experience in packaging development that will have a real impact on the organization. Specified Skills Required (Technical, Functional, Computer Programs, Soft Skills, etc.): Technical packaging background. Knowledge of packaging materials and how to develop utilizing this knowledge base. Experience using TOPS pallet pattern software preferred Required Qualifications: Working towards a Packaging Engineering degree preferably. Technical understanding of packaging materials and how to utilize the knowledge and skills towards packaging development.
