SUMMARY

Responsible for performing the on-site, troubleshooting, repair and preventive maintenance of Pfeiffer CMS equipment installed at the customer site.

Duties

  1. Shift Times
  2. Monday - Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm (Must be willing to work additional hours if needed)
  3. Uses a wide range of hand and power tools, measuring devices, and meters, to install, test, troubleshoot, and repair CMS equipment.
  4. Responsible for performing basic on-site PMs and react to alarms, as needed.
  5. Qualifying and verifying the equipment is back in the same or better condition as before maintenance.
  6. Exercise and utilize 5S principles.
  7. Follow standard operating procedures and accurately fill out required check sheets.
  8. Prepare reports on customer support issues and escalate to local FAE or Product Engineering/Applications team.
  9. Provide daily pass down information and updates to customer as necessary.
  10. Successfully complete proactive daily walkthrough inspections
  11. Ability to multi-task and prioritize workload with input from FAE and customer.
  12. Work safely and always be willing to stop and ask, as needed.
  13. Ability to work and be successful in stressful working conditions.
  14. Develop and discuss with customer a POA (Plan of Action) for each repair or PM.
  15. Responsible for installation, upgrade, troubleshooting and repair of all a models of complex contamination management systems at the customer site.
  16. Communicates or distributes regular updates to the system team, including status updates for ongoing cases and open issues.
  17. Serves as liaison with customers on technical matters.

Additional tasks related to Pfeiffer Vacuum’s install base may be requested by customer (if appropriate and safe for the FSE to complete)

Tasks require walking, sitting, bending, reaching, mobility, frequent lifting and pushing/pulling. Work requires computer skills (word processing, spreadsheet, and data-entry), attention to detail and accuracy. Communication skills including listening and speaking are required for interaction with other employees, vendors, and customers. Strong interpersonal skills, the ability to balance multiple tasks and any stress associated with the duties and responsibilities of this position are essential requirements in the performance of this job.

Additionally, must be able to manipulate small and large tools to test, repair perform PMs on CMS equipment as needed. The person in this job must be able to lift tools and equipment weighing up to sixty pounds. The position requires regular lifting of 25-pound equipment plus frequent pushing of heavy equipment that is mounted on wheels. The position requires the ability to stand most of the day and to be able to maneuver equipment into the correct spot at the customer’s facility.

Secondary duties with added requirements may be assigned from time to time.

General Qualifications:

Strong organizational and creative problem-solving skills as well as good planning and technical equipment troubleshooting skills required. Ability to work under tight deadlines in a dynamic group environment is necessary. Experience in vacuum technology is essential, as is knowledge of the field service type requirements that this position will support.

Education and/or Experience

  • Prefer a Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Biology, Chemistry, or Physics. Experience with meteorology or mass spectrometry.
  • Prefer experience in the semiconductor or biomedical engineering industry.
  • Prefer knowledge of vacuum technology, experiences in Airborne Molecular Contamination (AMC) tools installation or maintenances or OEM equipment support, in the manufacturing of semiconductors.
  • An understanding of mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Knowledge of programming and computer networking.

Language Skills

The ability to communicate in English verbally and in writing is essential. Reports email correspondence, schedules, are all typical requirements of this position and must be effectively and professionally communicated.

Reasoning Ability

The ability to understand the customers’ requirements and plan the support strategy is essential. Must be able to solve both practical and complex problems and deal with a variety of factors in situations where only limited standardization exists.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Valid Driver’s License.

TOOLS AND/OR EQUIPMENT

This position uses a computer extensively with demonstrated abilities in the use of Microsoft products as well as other common office type equipment. The Field Service Engineer is also a leading authority on the proper assembly and maintenance of the Company’s equipment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position will work at the customer’s site to support the Company’s employees and the customer’s representatives.
