Opportunity at a Glance
You will be primarily responsible for maintaining and improving post-licensure curricula, and all processes related to teaching/learning and assessment/evaluation to meet and exceed professional, accreditation, and regulatory standards based on the best available evidence. You will collaborate with multiple stakeholders leading in the development and maintenance of best-in-class courses that exceed student and faculty expectations, that address changing needs of students, and that deliver stated course and program outcomes. You will direct resources to create and maintain fully standardized courses with best-in-class course materials, learning technologies, and pedagogies; and serve as a senior-level curriculum expert and guide initiatives, promote evaluation, and assess curriculum outcomes. You will work closely with various groups within Adtalem and Chamberlain University, including faculty, administration, clinical education, academic success, faculty development, library services, instructional designers, educational technology experts, and accreditation & regulatory, to ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of curriculum development resulting in on-time implementation of state of the art courses and curricula.

Responsibilities

  • Project Management

  • Creates comprehensive goals and project plan for each course being developed.

  • Manages multiple course development projects while monitoring, measuring and reporting on progress to ensure courses are delivered on time and with the highest level of quality and innovation.

  • Identifies appropriate just-in-time resources that are needed from the academic shared services group and works with shared services leader to identify when these resources will be needed.

  • Identifies and engages appropriate faculty SMEs in the development of courses.

  • Provides regular updates to Curriculum leader regarding status of courses being developed.

  • Identifies and resolves potential barriers to project timeline.

  • Participates in final stage quality assurance procedures for courses through scheduled review and maintenance.

  • Uses finance skills in budget development/cost estimation for projects and other team needs.

  • Assessment

  • Uses best practices and current research to design appropriate assessments into every course that evaluates student learning, course outcomes, and how the course contributes to program outcomes.

  • Analyzes multiple data sources related to curriculum/courses and interprets and synthesizes data to lead appropriate improvements.

  • Conducts/engages in research in consultation with external teams on curriculum, teaching, and learning assessment.

  • Curriculum Development & Course Design

  • Directs course development and improvement to include key activities, timelines and resource requirements needed to achieve objectives while adhering to an appropriate systematic development process and timeline.

  • Leads and educates faculty in the utilization and implementation of course content, teaching strategies, and both faculty and student resources.

  • Maintains curriculum maps and levels the following curricular elements: Pedagogical approach, and learning assessment to appropriate professional and regulatory standards and assures consistency.

  • Leadership

  • Maintains programmatic accreditation requirements in relation to curricula.

  • Trains, mentors, coaches and develops team members in support of achieving course development objectives.

  • Ability to develop policies and procedures.

  • Maintains currency in practice (Education, related practice, and/or research) and curriculum knowledge (via literature, research trends and changes/developments in healthcare).

  • Other

  • Completes other duties as assigned.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Complies with all policies and standards.

Qualifications:

  • Doctoral degree with an emphasis on curriculum or related field Preferred.
  • Master's Degree Required.
  • 5 years Curricula and course development experience (online, blended, and onsite, preferred). Required.
  • Learning outcome/program evaluation experience (online, blended, and onsite, preferred) Required.
  • Evidence of application of active learning strategies and innovative teaching technologies in prior teaching experiences. Required.
  • Experience in faculty development and training Required.
  • Broad-based experience across multiple general educational disciplines with a demonstrated skill in integrating and synthesizing multiple cross-disciplinary solutions to education issues Required.
  • Knowledge of educational and instructional theories and principles applicable to a variety of teaching & learning modalities.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex projects to achieve desired outcomes while meeting budget parameters.
  • Ability to collaborate with other team members and lead through strong influencing skills.
  • Knowledge of current techniques and procedures used in the design, development, and delivery of curriculum and instruction.
  • Excellent computer (Microsoft office) and presentation skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to resolve issues and determine effective business and alternative solutions.
  • Understanding of the regulatory environment of higher education and healthcare.
  • Ability to interact with all levels within the organization and work in a fast-paced environment with many initiatives.
  • Demonstrated competence in use of technology for virtual meetings, project management and training.
  • Ability to work effectively and productively in a remote location.
  • Ability to produce high quality outcomes related to multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Ability to function as a productive team member and to consistently model the TEACH values.
  • Demonstrated success in the role of educator/staff developer (online, blended, onsite preferred).
  • Travel up to 20% may be Required.

Additional Information

In support of the pay transparency laws enacted across the country, the expected salary range for this position is between $70,696.34 and $124.230.14. Actual pay will be adjusted based on job-related factors permitted by law, such as experience and training; geographic location; licensure and certifications; market factors; departmental budgets; and responsibility.
