This position reports toProduction Supervisor
Your role and responsibilitiesSets up and operates multi-spindle CNC rotary transfer machine. Has advanced and specialized manufacturing/quality knowledge. Using own judgement, makes complex machine and program adjustments at floor management direction to produce a quality part in a timely manner. Is familiar with and uses dispatch list at floor management direction to ensure jobs are run in the most efficient sequence to reduce changeover time from job to job. Possesses level of flexibility, skill and experience setting up and operating a variety of CNC machines. Works effectively as a member of a work team. Actively involved in cross-training and assists co-workers in cross-training.
1.Reads work instructions to determine job specifications, machine adjustments, and material requirements. Makes general decisions as to quality, tolerances, and operation sequence. Adheres to JI's and JHA specific to the machines, follows LOTO procedures and maintains a pre-operation checklist.
2.Stages orders for most efficient runs and changeovers in accordance with team lead, supervision, and department planner requirements.
3.The operator is responsible for producing a quality product using the quality plans and work instructions.
4.Documents work completed using the manufacturing system.
5.Analyzes and makes major/minor adjustments and edits to tool offsets and part positions in CNC equipment and controls to adhere to established specifications.
6.Awareness of procedures to use around hazardous materials. Recognizes HAZMAT conditions and alerts appropriate personnel.
7.Performs daily and weekly maintenance to ensure proper operation of the machine, i.e. maintains coolant level and concentration, oil levels, cleans the machine on a regular basis, inspects tools during runs and during changeovers.
8.Monitors material levels in the barfeeder and stages material for the next order, as necessary.
9.Uses dial calipers, snap gauges or micrometers.
10.Monitors work to ensure that machine /equipment is not malfunctioning and takes corrective action.
11.Stacks, marks, packs, assembles, and transports finished work pieces as required.
12.All other duties as assigned.
- Education and/or Experience:
- High school graduate/GED required. Minimum of three (3) years CNC machine experience, including multi-functional equipment preferred.
- Other Qualifications:
- Ability to use shop mathematics, drawings, and measuring tools. Basic computer skills needed, ability to explore file systems and locate/save files. Capable of training co-workers. Able to follow quality plans and work instructions.
- Language Skills:Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Reads and interprets documents like safety rules and instructions.
- Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
- Reasoning Ability:Ability to follow written, oral or diagrammed instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving more concrete variables. Ability to read CNC control panel.
- Physical Demands: Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls and reach with hands and arms. The employee is required to stand, walk, sit, communicate and occasionally to stoop, kneel, or crouch, must be able to traverse stairs continuously without problems. Must be able to reach over their head to lift or lower tools. Must be able to stoop to tools below their feet. The employee must frequently lift up to 35 pounds. Visual abilities required may include close vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
- Work Environment: The employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts, in outside air weather conditions, and is occasionally exposed to humid conditions. The noise level near the work environment may frequently be loud.
