What you'll be doing...

This position is for a Security Engineering entry level role in the Verizon Global Network & Technology organization. In this role you will work to proactively engineer security controls to mitigate risk early in the development lifecycle. You will gather requirements, designs, codes, tests, implements, and support secure applications and solutions while maintaining knowledge of various programming languages, data analytics and automation tools. You will ensure scalability of emerging security technologies and solutions.

As a Security Engineer you will:

  1. Analyze new networking solutions, identifying potential security concerns, recommending approaches that can be used to mitigate identified risks, and working with technology teams to implement recommendations.
  2. Implement security controls developed by the business to mitigate risk during the development lifecycle.
  3. Implement tools and programs developed by senior staff to improve the security analysis process within the business.
  4. Keep up to date on emerging security technologies and solutions.
  5. Provide client support, escalating consultation and information security subject matter expertise to senior members.
  6. Review provided requirements, design, code, test, implement, and support secure applications and solutions while maintaining knowledge of various programming languages, data analytics and automation tools.
  7. Work under supervision to implement security controls developed by the business to mitigate risk during the development lifecycle.

You'll need to have:
  1. Current enrollment in a Bachelor's or Master's degree majoring in Telecommunications, Information Technology, Engineering, Data Analytics, Data Science, Computer Science or related majors with a completion date of June 2024.
  2. Coursework or demonstrated experience in Python, Java and C++.
  3. Coursework or experience in Network & Security protocols (ex: TCP/IP).
  4. Coursework or experience in Cloud Infrastructure, Policies, & Standards, Security Configurations.
  5. Authorization to work in the U.S. without restrictions or need for future sponsorship.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  1. Demonstrated strong written and communication skills.
  2. Experience working with Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite.
  3. Ability to work with/in Cloud IAM, Authentication, and access control.
  4. Ability to work with/in Cloud Computing (AWS/Openshift/GCP/Azure).
  5. Ability to work with/in Network Performance.

Where you'll be working

In this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes work from home and assigned office days set by your manager.
