Job Description:

The CNC Machinist will produce intricate machined components by interpreting part drawings, job layouts, and specifications. They perform tasks such as drilling, milling, turning, grinding, and facing while setting up and operating advanced machinery. Working in a modern, air-conditioned environment, they follow detailed instructions and use standard coding with state-of-the-art technology.

Qualifications:

  • Experience with CNC lathes and particularly Swiss machining strongly preferred
  • High school diploma, GED, or certificate from a trade school.
  • Skilled in using computerized machine controls, weight scales, comparators, microscopes, precision measuring instruments, hand tools, and specialized trade tools.
  • Proficient in using computers for data entry and document creation.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and mathematical skills.
  • Ability to proofread documents, read blueprints, train others, and complete production paperwork.

Responsibilities:

  • Follow programming, operational data, part drawings, and setup instructions to define and code tool arrangements, fixturing, material clamping methods, machine calibration, and console settings for operations like boring, milling, drilling, facing, threading, and contouring.
  • Arrange, mount, and secure tooling in machines, racks, magazines, or turrets; align and secure holding fixtures; set stops and calibrate fixtures or workpieces to material reference points. Replenish machines with necessary materials and maintain multiple machines in operation.
  • Set up and operate multiple machines, adjusting and resetting machine and fixture stops to meet tolerance requirements. Sharpen tools as needed.
  • Follow detailed instructions, standard coding, and operational data to change or mount tools and position workpieces.
  • Replenish machines with materials and oils as required. Ensure material, holding fixtures, and clamping devices are clear of debris to maintain proper work positioning.
  • Use the control console to orient the spindle and check work positioning at reference points.
  • Identify and report machine malfunctions or tooling issues. Keep equipment and the work area clean and organized, while adhering to safety rules and regulations.
