Principal Software Engineer - Executive Director

As a Principal Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within Consumer and Community Banking, you provide expertise and engineering excellence as an integral part of an agile team to enhance, build, and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. Job responsibilities

1. Creates complex and scalable coding frameworks using appropriate software design frameworks.
2. Develops secure and high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others.
3. Advises cross-functional teams on technological matters within your domain of expertise.
4. Serves as the function’s go-to subject matter expert.
5. Contributes to the development of technical methods in specialized fields in line with the latest product development methodologies.
6. Creates durable, reusable software frameworks that are leveraged across teams and functions.
7. Influences leaders and senior stakeholders across business, product, and technology teams.
8. Champions the firm’s culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

1. Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 10+ years applied experience.
2. Hands-on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
3. Expert in one or more programming language(s).
4. Advanced knowledge of software application development and technical processes with considerable in-depth knowledge in one or more technical disciplines (e.g., cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile, etc.).
5. Experience applying expertise and new methods to determine solutions for complex technology problems in one or more technical disciplines.
6. Experience leading a product as a Product Owner or Product Manager.
7. Ability to present and effectively communicate with Senior Leaders and Executives.
8. Practical cloud native experience, specifically AWS and AWS related technologies.
9. Proficiency in Java/J2EE and REST APIs, Web Services and experience in building event-driven Micro Services and Kafka streaming. Experience in Spring Framework and AWS Services in public cloud infrastructure (S3, Terraform, PostgreSQL DB, Dynamo DB).
10. Advanced understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, Security and best practices like The twelve-factor app.
11. Expertise in software architecture principles and portfolio management to guide the decision-making process and align technical solutions with business objectives.

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

1. Proficiency in front-end languages such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Advanced experience with front-end frameworks like React, Angular or ExtJS.
2. UI Experience preferred.
3. Experience in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field.
