We are seeking a hands-on Process Engineer to join our engineering department in a leading wire and cable manufacturing facility. This on-site role involves developing, implementing, and optimizing cost-effective manufacturing processes while ensuring adherence to product specifications and quality standards. The Process Engineer will play a key role in supporting both new and existing business, driving continuous improvement, and ensuring manufacturing efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and optimize manufacturing processes to meet product specifications and quality standards.
- Manage tasks such as creating PFMEA/Control plans, developing processes, writing specifications, reviewing equipment proposals, and selecting equipment.
- Provide technical support across departments, document process conditions, and offer solutions to minimize downtime and resolve technical issues.
- Conduct operator training on set-up instructions and test procedures.
- Assist in resolving process issues and provide technical assistance in troubleshooting manufacturing processes.
- Follow and document process conditions for samples and first-run production; ensure quality standards and detect/report defective materials.
- Support manufacturing and quality assurance teams in solving product-related issues.
- Perform product/process analysis for cost reduction, quality improvement, and efficiency enhancements.
- Analyze scrap trends and create project plans with timelines and measurable goals aligned with business objectives.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality, reduce costs, and minimize scrap.
- Maintain a presence on the factory floor, troubleshoot processes and equipment, and drive root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Develop or modify processes to improve product performance, reduce scrap, and enhance efficiency; create process standards and procedures such as One-Point Lessons, Visual Instructions, and SOPs.
- B.S. Degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience in the wire and cable industry.
- Lean Manufacturing training and a continuous improvement mindset.
- Certifications in Six Sigma (Green or Black Belt preferred).
- Experience with Design of Experiments (DOE) and Statistical Process Control (SPC).
