DESIGN ENGINEER, PE!
You will perform structural analysis and design with consideration for design criteria, steel specifications, and customer's agreement. This is a great chance to work with a privately held group that takes pride in a flat leadership structure that allows on-time completion of projects with the highest possible quality.
Typical Functions:
• Perform structural design of primary and secondary structural framing and connections on building orders.
• Proficient use of AISC and AISI material specifications, current ASCE 7 and IBC, and the MBMA Building Systems Manual.
• Maximize design software (AutoCAD, MBS, Tekla or similar) and other computer tools available with recognition as a super user in one or more tools.
• Maintain good established communication with all engineering and drafting department personnel during correlation of design/detail aspects as a building order proceeds through the engineering and drafting department.
• Review drawings prepared by drafting to confirm that engineer's design intent was properly understood and incorporated into drawings.
• Maintain a high productivity rate with low errors and ensure that all jobs are completed on or before the scheduled due date.
• Prepare submittal of design calculations when required.
• Provide assistance to estimating/sales with value engineering and efficient design for quotes.
• Exercise sound judgment on designs/details affecting economics of field erection versus plant fabrication.
• Provide recommendations and assist in updating/developing documentation and tools for more efficient design and materials utilization in improving product sale ability and ease of manufacturing and field erection.
• Serve as a resource for estimators, project managers, engineers, and detailers on best utilization of company's procedures and products to meet customer's needs.
• Provide certification with seal and signature on construction documents on orders in states with professional engineering or structural engineering licensure.
• Obtain Professional Engineering or Structural Engineering Licensure in additional states.
The Ideal Candidate will have:
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering
License as Professional Engineer or Structural Engineer
5+ years of Metal Building Design experience
Location: In-house (relocation provided); may consider regional (hybrid schedule).
