Location: El Segundo
Closing Date: 09/11/2024
Hours: Full Time
Type: Permanent
Job Requirements / Description

Company Description:

Odyssey is building full-stack space supercomputers backed by world-class investors in pursuit of an audacious multi-planetary scale vision.

What you'll do:

  • Build advanced GEOINT AI that'll turn Earth observation into Earth clairvoyance. Make it so advanced that it'll predict where you'll be tomorrow (Don't worry, we're not actually doing that... or are we?).
  • Create AI so smart it can play 4D chess with satellite constellations.
  • Lay the foundation for computers that will live in space.
  • Make orbital computing so efficient, that it'll make ground-based data centers look like abacuses.

Must-haves (Or be prepared to evolve rapidly):

  • PhD-level skills in computer vision and geospatial tech. No degree required but around 5+ years of experience (give or take) is.
  • Ideally shipped more cutting-edge space tech than NASA on a good decade but if not, at least shipped products that made people go "holy sh*t!".
  • The stamina to work 100-hour weeks.
  • The ability to write code faster than Neo in The Matrix.
  • An escape velocity mindset.

You probably are:

  • The smartest person in every room you've ever been in.
  • Irritated by how slow everyone else moves.
  • Convinced that "2001: A Space Odyssey" was actually a recruitment video.
  • The person who looks at impossible problems and says "Hold my coffee".
  • Ruthlessly proactive.
  • Ready to sacrifice everything for the chance to build the greatest multi-planetary scale project of your life.

Perks:

  • Chance to name a satellite (No, you can't call it 'HAL 9000', we all know how that went).
  • Your code will literally be in space. Beat that, GitHub Copilot.
  • Unlimited satellite imagery (legal disclaimer: for work purposes only).
  • A desk with a view of... well, everything on Earth.

The fine print:

  • Location: El Segundo, CA. Think of it as Low Earth Orbit with better weather.
  • Hours: Yes.

Bonus points if you already designed your own satellite in your spare time!

ITAR REQUIREMENTS:

  • To conform to U.S. Government export regulations, applicant must be a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (aka green card holder), (iii) Refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157, or (iv) Asylee under 8 U.S.C. § 1158, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
