Join us.Job DescriptionThe GE Aerospace Engineering Team is looking for experienced mechanical design engineers who are ready to work on the fastest growing engine in Aviation history, LEAP. The LEAP engine is a culmination of cutting-edge technology, world-class reliability and unparalleled performance, and is the engine of choice to power the Airbus A320neo, the Boeing 737 MAX, and the COMAC C919.LEAP's 15% reduction in fuel burn (over prior generation of narrowbody applications) is moving the needle on sustainability today and proving out the next generation of sustainable technologies like ceramic composites, advanced turbine cooling, and additive manufacturing.Our LEAP engine incorporates some of GE's latest technological innovations which are challenging our engineers to test the limits of what is possible and define non-traditional design solutions that keep GE Aerospace at the forefront of innovation.The Staff Structures Mechanical Design Engineer will be part of the LEAP Combustor and Turbine Center Frame Engineering Design Team in Cincinnati, OH. They will be responsible for design, durability, repairs, and field support of the LEAP TCF and CDN structures components. Role involves project leadership, consulting and review of team’s structures projects, and interface with support organizations and systems engineering.Essential ResponsibilitiesThe Staff Structures Mechanical Design Engineer will:Execute, provide guidance, and collaborate with GE Technical Experts on the design, analysis, and evaluation of structures design projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and LEAP product / program requirementsDocument, prepare and present technical data and results in technical program reviews, internal and external customers, design record books, and agency certification documentation.In-depth understanding of key business drivers; uses this understanding to accomplish own work as well as mentor othersProvide timely communications to team members on significant issues or developments and promote open dialogueWork on teams to lift up and support organizational initiativesQualifications/RequirementsBachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited college or universityAt least 5 years experience in an engineering positionDesired CharacteristicsDemonstrated expertise in structural mechanical designDemonstrated proficiency in GD&T and stack upsDemonstrated proficiency operating finite element analysis and solid modeling toolsSignificant experience in the design, testing, and certification of structural engine componentsAbility to communicate clearly and effectively with all levels of the organization and provide guidance to engineers with less experienceDemonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems with a sense of urgency7 years in a mechanical design position#LI-EDRICH#LEAPThis role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information.
