Job Requirements / Description

The Director of Capital Construction and Engineering will oversee the planning, design, and execution of all capital construction projects and engineering initiatives across Parkway Corporation’s mixed-use real estate portfolio and Land Fund properties. This role requires a highly experienced professional with a deep understanding of construction management, competitive procurement, engineering principles, project management, and sustainability practices. The Director will be responsible for ensuring that all , projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality, safety, and permitting and regulatory requirements. 


Responsibilities

Capital Project Management/Maintenance and Repairs:  


Lead the planning, budgeting, and execution of all capital construction projects, including renovations, and major maintenance initiatives across the Parkway portfolio, including Land Fund properties. 

Develop comprehensive project plans, including timelines, budgets, resource allocation, and risk management strategies. 


Oversee the selection and management of contractors, architects, engineers, and other consultants to ensure successful project delivery. 


Engineering Oversight:  

Provide technical leadership in the design, construction, and maintenance of building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, structural, elevators, and life safety systems. 


Ensure that all engineering projects meet regulatory requirements, industry standards, and company specifications. 


Implement and oversee preventive maintenance programs for all building systems, ensuring optimal performance and longevity. 

Sustainability and Innovation:  


Lead the implementation of sustainability initiatives across all construction and engineering projects, including energy efficiency upgrades, green building practices, and LEED certification efforts. 


Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends, incorporating innovative solutions that enhance the efficiency, sustainability, and resilience of the portfolio. 

Budgeting and Financial Management:  


Develop and manage the capital construction and engineering budget, ensuring alignment with the company’s financial objectives. 


Monitor project costs and financial performance, providing regular updates to senior management and stakeholders. 

Identify cost-saving opportunities through value engineering and strategic sourcing without compromising quality or safety. 


Team Leadership and Development:  


Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing team of construction managers, engineers, and project managers, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement. 

Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including parking management, asset management, property management, and leasing, to ensure alignment on project goals and objectives. 


Provide ongoing training and development opportunities for team members to enhance their skills and advance their careers. 


Compliance and Safety:  

Ensure all construction and engineering activities comply with local, state, and federal regulations, including building codes, environmental laws, and OSHA requirements. 


Has a deep understanding of the permitting processes in each jurisdiction, proactive engagement with municipal authorities, and the ability to navigate complex regulatory environments to ensure timely approvals and compliance throughout the project lifecycle. 


Implement rigorous safety protocols on all construction sites to protect workers, tenants, and visitors. 

Conduct regular site inspections and audits to ensure compliance and identify areas for improvement. 


Reporting and Communication:  


Prepare and present detailed reports on project progress, budgets, and risks to senior management and other stakeholders. 

Maintain clear and open communication with all project stakeholders, ensuring that expectations are managed and any issues are promptly addressed. 


Qualifications

(Fifth year college or university program certificate; or five to ten years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. AutoCAD, project management and real estate management software proficiency. Education and work experience with Architectural, Civil or Structural engineering, with specific experience in commercial real estate. 5+ years preparing design and construction drawings.
