Job Description: We are seeking a motivated and industry-experienced Engineer with experience in electrical design and/or manufacturing to support solar window manufacturing, scale-up, control electronics and grid integration. A successful applicant will be results-oriented, have a strong understanding in photovoltaic electrical design, grid integration, dc microgrids, microelectronics design, and window manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities:
· Engineer and design solar window systems to meet customer requirements
· Perform equipment selection and prepare Bill of Materials to ensure compliance with project requirements such as IEEE, UL, and NEC standards
· Develop and test electronic prototypes (microcontrollers, solar cells, etc.)
· Engage in hands-on manufacturing of solar windows
· Implement scaled manufacturing processes and quality control methods
· Interact with third-party partners to establish and manage manufacturing supply chains
Job Requirements
· BS or MS degree in Electrical Engineering or similar field
· 2+ years industry experience in solar, electronics, and/or fenestration
· Electrical design experience (photovoltaic arrays, sensors, PCB design, wireless communication, grid integration, inverters, MPPT design, etc.)
· Experience with safely working in a chemistry lab and/or manufacturing floor setting
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
· Ability to organize/analyze data and draw conclusions from technical data
· Residence in or re-location close to Los Alamos, NM
· Permanent authorization to work in the USA and over the age of 18
Desired Qualifications
· Experience in PV electrical design (grid-direct, stand-alone, etc)
· 4+ years’ experience in photovoltaic design, BIPV experience specifically desired
· Engineering software experience (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, KiCad, etc.)
· Scale-up manufacturing experience
· Project management experience
