THE POSITION

We are looking for an experienced Senior Software Engineer to join our Deployment Automation engineering team in our Developer Lifecycle organization. The Deployment Automation team creates and supports service deployment and deployment observability mechanisms, using UI-based tools, infrastructure-as-code, libraries, and other tools. These are used company-wide to support large-scale complex application microservice architectures across several dozen target deployment locations under unique geographic and regulatory constraints. This team defines (in collaboration with our stakeholders), implements, and supports the aforementioned mechanisms.

We’re looking for passionate and experienced technologists, strong communicators, and those with a commitment to continuous improvement. The ideal candidate will have the confidence to propose pragmatic solutions to complex problems and be eager to both learn from and educate others. In this role, you will work amongst multidisciplinary teams, tackling complex problems to create world-class infrastructure as we continuously build out our exciting and innovative developer experience.

THE GAME PLAN

  • Manage and lead a platform engineering team which supports the development of performant and reliable applications across FanDuel.
  • Lead conversations to remove blockers and foster collaboration across teams.
  • Collaborate with various cross-functional software engineering teams to enhance and unify our overarching engineering culture.
  • Translate overarching strategic goals into actionable and detailed plans that can be readily implemented by engineers.
  • Demonstrate technical leadership across the organization.
  • Shape and enact standards and baselines for uplifting engineering across FanDuel.
  • Under your guidance, supervise the development and implementation of engineering tools seamlessly integrated into the Development Lifecycle.

THE STATS

  • Proficient experience in programming languages (e.g., Go, Python, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, etc.).
  • Strong experience with delivering programs and projects via tools like Jira.
  • Transform strategic objectives into actionable programs of work, leading to the execution of effective and successful outcomes.
  • Proficient in developing applications and identifying patterns related to Platform engineering, Infrastructure engineering, DevOps, etc.
  • Experience with tools such as Kubernetes, Terraform, CloudFormation, etc.
  • Deep familiarity with distributed microservice architecture components and patterns (for example: protobuf, OpenAPI, thrift, API Gateways, microservice mesh, etc.).
  • Familiarity with cloud-based infrastructure, preferably AWS with infrastructure-as-code (e.g., Terraform or OpenTofu).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

PLAYER BENEFITS

From our many opportunities for professional development to our generous insurance and paid leave policies, we’re committed to making sure our employees get as much out of FanDuel as we ask them to give. Competitive compensation is just the beginning. As part of our team, you can expect:

  • An exciting and fun environment committed to driving real growth.
  • Opportunities to build really cool products that fans love.
  • Mentorship and professional development resources to help you refine your game.
  • Be well, save well, and live well - with FanDuel Total Rewards your benefits are one highlight reel after another.
