We are based in New York City. This is a hybrid role (4 days a week in our Manhattan office). Regular in-person collaboration helps us learn faster, decide faster, and deliver value to our customers faster.
Role Overview:
We are moving fast against an ambitious, customer-validated roadmap, and we need a senior founding engineer to help us accelerate. You will take ownership of brand new, 0 to 1 projects, and work cross-functionally with product and design and at all levels of the tech stack.
You will join a tight-knit, four-person engineering team with frontend, backend, and data science expertise. As a senior team member, you will shape a strong engineering culture, and make foundational technology and architecture decisions.
In a typical month, you will work on one or more projects like these:
- Prototype a chat-based interface that allows writers to accelerate their editing process
- Build data pipelines to collect, clean, and organize data from 3rd party APIs
- Select and configure a vector database to support a new RAG-based feature
- Add real-time collaboration to our rich semantic content editor
You are a good fit if you…
- Want to own meaty projects end-to-end. You will work closely with our Head of Product to understand the problems you are solving, write RFCs to lay out technical solutions, and execute the implementation across all layers of the tech stack.
- Enjoy rapid iteration cycles, constantly learning from users, and adapting requirements and functionality to new learnings. You must have a strong bias for action, even if it means making some mistakes.
- Take pride in creating delightful user experiences, with a clear track record of building user-centric features.
- Enjoy sharing your knowledge and mentoring early-career engineers through thoughtful code review.
What You Bring:
- 5+ years of experience working on modern SaaS applications
- Experience working in early-stage startup environments
- An ability to rapidly prototype when bringing a feature from 0 to 1 AND the ability to sweat the details when scaling a feature from 1 to 10
- Knowledge of distributed system design best practices
- Fluency in Python, Typescript, and React
- Familiarity with Azure is a plus
