Summary
Provide necessary demonstration and service requirements on various models of CNC Machine Tools at customer locations under general instructions.
Essential Functions

  • Install, qualify, repair, or alter independently machines (mechanically, electrically, and CNC) or associated equipment in customer's facilities. Perform these duties following verbal or written instructions given by Tech Support, Service Coordinator or Service Manager, or using information contained in drawings, service documentation, or other user documentation.
  • Operate machines and associated equipment in customer's facilities to demonstrate or qualify equipment, or observes qualification runs conducted by customer personnel. Assure that the machine accuracy and quality are in accordance with specifications.
  • Notify Tech Support or Service Coordinator when deviations from specifications occur, or when problems are encountered. Write complete service reports in accordance with procedures.
  • Instruct customer's personnel to operate, maintain and/or repair machines and equipment, emphasizing necessary safety precautions. Notify customer of any unsafe operating practices observed.
  • Provide input for the improvement and development of company products.
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
  • Ability to work overtime and/or work on "off-shifts" as required by business needs.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment
This job operates primarily at KM customer's sites, although some technical support may be provided from the home office as directed by management. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and forklifts. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.

  • The employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to work in a constant state of alertness required.
Expected Hours of Work
This is an hourly, non-exempt, full-time position with standard working days/hours of Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm with paid overtime as necessary to complete required tasks. Actual working hours may vary based on needs of customers.
Travel
Local travel within a 2-3 hr. radius is significant. Travel is primarily in a regional area and during the business day, although out-of-the-area and overnight travel can take place. Travel to Germany or other international locations, while not likely, is possible for training/conferences. Overnight approximate travel is 10%.
Required Education and Experience
  • Associates Degree in Technical field and 3-5 years of related experienced in the electrical field, preferably as a Field Service Engineer or Technician, or combination of education and experience.
Preferred Education and Experience
  • Thorough understanding of machinery processes to include robotic equipment, operations and installations.
  • Hands-on electrical and mechanical experience with CNC machine tools and automation
  • Knowledge of machine leveling and alignments
  • Solid technical troubleshooting and problem solving skills
  • Providing current and future customers with a high level of communication and support
