Position Description

While working independently or in teams, the senior application developer creates and maintains complex applications that meet documented business requirements and further IIR's organizational goals. The senior application developer also configures databases and leads development project teams.

Responsibilities

  • Create complex applications utilizing .NET, web-based libraries, databases, and APIs that are consistent with organizational development standards
  • Ensure that code is well documented and complies with IIR standards
  • Participate in project planning and requirements definition meetings and work with Information Technology (IT) project managers to architect the project deliverable(s)
  • Conduct iterative, functional, and user interface testing while also reviewing the configurations and ensuring the security of the application
  • Work with internal and external clients demonstrating applications at various stages of the development process
  • Mentor/coach application developers to increase their capabilities within the development team
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex bugs within application code and user interface components
  • Create applications and services with complex requirements, loosely defined scope, and short delivery schedules as determined by the IT development manager
  • Assist the IT development manager with organizational database configuration and fine-tuning and maintaining proper data storage
  • Other duties, as assigned

Knowledge and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, management information systems, or related field preferred
  • Six years of advanced applications development experience, three of which must be in a senior or lead development role, with a bachelor's degree or a combination of appropriate post-high school education and relevant experience equal to 8 years
  • Expert knowledge of Visual Studio, .NET, C#, JavaScript, AJAX, HTML/CSS, XML/JSON, and SQL Server/Cosmos DB
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Able to work independently and in teams
  • Experience working within a Scrum development environment
  • Microsoft Azure experience highly preferred

Physical Demands

Most work is performed in a highly productive and fast-paced virtual office environment with prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Employees must be able to maintain a quiet remote office space that is free of distractions.
