Job Description: Conduct engineering studies for water and wastewater treatment plants, pumping station upgrades, and water main and sewer line rehabilitation and replacement. Assist professional engineers in broader engineering activities regarding the planning and designing of transportation and hydraulic systems using computer-aided design (AutoCAD and Civil 3D). Provide sustainable plans and conduct cost-benefit analyses for facility upgrades. Provide advanced geographic information system (GIS) technical support, using ESRI ArcGIS pro, on water resource management program to DC Water. Perform hydraulic and hydrological analyses, using Win-TR-55 and HydroCAD, to model the movement of water and determine design criteria.
Identify environmental risks and develop risk management strategies for civil engineering projects. Analyze survey reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, aerial photography, or other topographical or geologic data. Forecast water demand using historical water use data to develop the basis of design for water/wastewater facilities. Estimate quantities and cost of materials, equipment, or labor to determine project construction cost. Prepare project and construction schedules using project management software, such as Primavera P6. Perform field work to evaluate the existing condition of the facilities, such as pumping stations, and prepare facilities condition assessment reports.
Interface with other disciplines and participate in project meetings to execute projects in accordance with the project work plan.
Minimum Requirements: Master’s Degree in Environmental Engineering. 6 months experience as an Environmental Engineer and/or Water Resource Engineer. License/Certification in Engineer-in-Training (EIT).
Must have experience with: water resource engineering design computations; preparing CADD-based designs and drawings; and checking drainage, stormwater erosion and sediment control engineering design computations.
Must have experience with Microstation, WinTR-55, TR-20, HydroCAD, HEC-RAS, and Excel.
