Job Purpose
The Senior Manufacturing Engineer, Additive will assist our team in developing and industrializing our revolutionary fuel agnostic generator. This role will play a crucial part in advancing our additive manufacturing capabilities, ensuring operational efficiency, quality assurance, and innovation in product development.
Duties and Responsibilities

  • Process Development and Optimization:
    • Lead the development and optimization of LPBF processes using Concept Laser machines (or similar) to achieve superior part quality, build efficiency, and reduced lead times.
    • Utilize advanced modeling and simulation tools to predict and enhance part performance and manufacturability, with a focus on high feature detail printing.
  • Material Expertise:
    • Collaborate closely with material scientists and suppliers to qualify new materials for LPBF, ensuring compatibility, performance, and cost-effectiveness.
    • Develop robust material handling procedures and ensure adherence to stringent safety standards.
  • Production Quality Assurance:
    • Establish and refine quality control processes for LPBF, including in-process monitoring and comprehensive post-process inspection techniques.
    • Implement statistical process control (SPC) methods to monitor and enhance process capability and maintain high standards of product consistency.
  • Innovation and Continuous Improvement:
    • Drive innovation initiatives to advance machine capabilities, broaden the range of printable materials, and optimize intricate feature detailing.
    • Lead or contribute to research projects aimed at pushing the boundaries of LPBF technology and its practical applications.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration:
    • Collaborate closely with design engineers, production teams, and stakeholders to integrate additive manufacturing solutions into product design and development workflows.
    • Provide expert technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and technicians.
  • Documentation and Compliance:
    • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation, including standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and detailed engineering reports.
    • Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and best practices governing additive manufacturing processes.
  • Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned, needed, or required for the business.

Qualifications include:
  • Education, Experience and Certifications
    • 5 - 10 years working in an additive engineering environment, preferably in laser bed powder fusion technology.
    • Bachelor's degree required in mechanical, materials, aerospace or chemical engineering preferred.
    • Master's degree preferred in mechanical, materials, aerospace or chemical engineering preferred.
  • Skills and Abilities
    • Proven experience as an additive manufacturing engineer, design engineer or similar role.
    • Strong leadership and team development skills with the ability to motivate and influence a team in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
    • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills, with a focus on results and driving projects forward.
    • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively liaise with various stakeholders.
    • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
    • Familiarity with power generation, electric charging, generator technology or a similar industry is a plus.
Role Classification and Working Conditions
This is a salaried, exempt-level position. This position typically works in an office environment; and given the nature of our business is also exposed to operations/warehouses/production environments.
