Design Engineer

Cervélo exists to Make Riders Faster. You'll see our bikes on the road, on the trail, and under some of the most elite athletes in the world. We're a small group of passionate riders, dedicated to delivering the best bikes in the world. It's not all CAD and wind tunnel time, though, we're headquartered in Aliso Viejo, California, a sweet corner of Orange County where you can ride on and off road year-round. Coming off a historic year in which Cervélo bikes won all three Grand Tours (the first bike in history to do so), our ambitions have never been higher, and we're looking for talented, driven people to join our team.
We are looking for a Design Engineer working 100% on-site in Aliso Viejo, California.
General Function: The Design Engineer is a core member of the Product Development Team. Product Development's mission is the timely delivery of new products and technologies to market. The DE conceptualizes and develops new products, using CAD and other rapid iteration tools.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:

• A core member of the PD Team, relied upon for mechanical conceptualization and technical execution.
• Conceptualize, prototype and iterate new designs using CAD and/or 2D sketches
• Develop concepts into manufacturable products
• Create final tooling-ready CAD models
• Generate technical renderings, exploded views, Bill of Materials and final assembly documentation
• Operates with technical and scheduling direction from senior staff
• Tracks progress through reporting Design Manager

Basic Qualifications:

• Engineering or Industrial Design degree, 3+ years of relevant work experience would be considered in lieu of a degree
• 1-3 years of product design experience
• CAD modeling and assembly experience
• Understanding of related materials and engineering concepts.
• Rapid prototyping/additive manufacturing methods
• Hands-on fabrication of prototypes for testing
• Computer skills including Excel, PowerPoint and Word, or similar
• History of collaboration in cross functional teams
• Strong organizational, people, verbal and written skills
• Self-starter with high attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications:

• 5+yrs multi-industry experience, focused in sporting products
• Solidworks proficiency
• Expertise with volumetric modeling and surface creation
• InDesign, Illustrator or equivalent, software experience
• Generation of photo quality renderings; PhotoView 360, Keyshot, etc.
• Non-parametric CAD experience; Alias, Rhino, etc.
• Familiarity with carbon fiber production, plastic injection molding and metal manufacturing
• Practical experience with performance cycling products; maintenance and assembly
• Passion for and participation in cycling

Working conditions:
1. Office location in Orange County, CA
2. Ability to travel between 0-15%, domestic and international
The compensation package will be dependent on experience, qualifications and industry experience with a potential range of 82,000-103,000.
