As a Senior Software Development Engineer in Test on this team, you will lead test automation and infrastructure development, testing new architectural choices that have a significant impact on our systems, our business, and most importantly, our customers. You will work directly with Developers, QA Engineers, and Product Managers to ensure quality development and quality of our applications and platforms. We are working with exciting new technologies and solving complex automation problems across platforms.

Key Job Responsibilities

As Sr. SDET you will be responsible for building highly scaled systems that ensure Prime continues to delight customers worldwide.

  • Lead the design and development of quality infrastructure that encourages the optimal combination of unit/component/integration and end-to-end tests.
  • Collaborate with software engineering teams, driving continuous development, integration, and deployment.
  • Work with Principal Engineers and other Senior engineers to develop best practices for software quality assurance across multiple software teams.
  • Actively participate in cross-team design reviews.
  • Assist in the career development of others, actively mentoring individuals and the community.
  • Exert technical influence over multiple teams, increasing their productivity and effectiveness by sharing your deep knowledge and expertise.
  • Have a profound impact on millions of customers.
  • Report on the status of development, quality, operations, and system performance to management.
  • Design and develop complex, interactive customer experiences.
  • Knowledge of professional software engineering practices & best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
  • Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and management to collect requirements, evaluate alternatives, and develop processes and tools as needed to support the organization.
  • Knowledge of industry standard test automation tools and experience in developing product test harnesses and instrumenting products to gather test results.
  • Experience with test-driven development and establishing unit test infrastructures.
  • Experience automating the validation of modern user interfaces and messaging infrastructures.
  • Experience with evaluating and integrating open source and in-house developed toolsets.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to generate and communicate meaningful development metrics.
  • Expert in software quality and testing methodologies.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, highly collaborative, dynamic work environment.
  • Experienced in interacting and coordinating test activities amongst multiple teams.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $151,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $261,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
