GEI's Huntington Station, Long Island office is seeking a motivated & experienced Geotechnical Engineer to assist on a variety of projects throughout the region. Project types will include residential and commercial buildings, infrastructure and transportation, dams and levees, waterfront development, excavation support systems, and remediation.
Essential Responsibilities & Duties
  • Perform geotechnical analysis and design, and present data and results.
  • Observe and manage field explorations and construction activities.
  • Design and implement geotechnical instrumentation projects.
  • Assist in preparing full design packages with calculations, drawings, and specifications.
  • Assist in overseeing construction of specialty geotechnical items such as deep foundations, tiebacks, and grouting, among others.
  • Write letters and reports, and other deliverables.
  • Develop proposals and participate in other business development activities.
Minimum Qualifications
  • B.S. in Civil Engineering. Geotechnical course work required.
  • 5 to 10 or more years of experience.
  • Must have passed the F.E. exam.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Travel to job locations as needed.
  • Must have a valid U.S. driver's license.
  • Ability to perform field work on active construction sites without restrictions, and in inclement weather if required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • M.S. in Geotechnical Engineering preferred. Structural course work a plus.
  • Professional Engineer's license preferred.
