ELECTRICAL ENGINEER, LAUNCH FACILITIESThe Sr. Electrical Engineer will be responsible for providing engineering support for the design, operation, and troubleshooting of facility electrical components and systems, while overseeing electrical installations and maintenance activities with local Vandenberg Space Force Station electrical utilities personnel. Are you up for the challenge?RESPONSIBILITIES:Work in a team environment with other engineering disciplines to provide detailed electrical design and specification for the installation of the following equipment and systems:Electrical power distribution systemsSwitch-gear and motor control centersExterior and interior lightingGround support system controls and ladder logicUninterruptible power supply (UPS) unitsStandby and emergency generatorsAutomatic transfer switchesPower monitoring hardware and softwareData/phone distribution and wiringBuilding and site grounding systemsFire alarm systems and lightning protection systemsProvide electrical engineering support to facility technicians to troubleshoot existing electrical equipment and controllersProvide engineering support for the design, operation, and troubleshooting of all the facility electrical components and systems, including:Load flow analysis of electrical power distribution systemsElectrical equipment evaluationBuilding and facility equipment groundingPower monitoring hardware and softwareEnsure that all equipment interfaces properly with other mechanical and electrical systems, including compatibility with facility power budgetsCoordinate all electrical installations and maintenance activities with local Vandenberg Space Force Base's electrical utilities personnelEnsure all electrical designs and installations conform to applicable codes and regulationsProvide code review and analysis utilizing NFPA 70E, NFPA 70 NEC, NFPA 497, NFPA 101, Vol 5 & 6 AFSPCMAN 91-710, and IBCBASIC QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering5+ years of professional experience in a similar role working on power distribution systems, switchgear, UPS's, and generatorsPREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:3+ years of years of professional experience in a similar role working on power distribution systems, switchgear, UPS's, and generatorsAbility to read and understand power and control schematicsAbility to read and understand highly technical equipment operation and maintenance (O&M) manualsExperience with variable frequency drives (VFDs) and industrial pumpsExperience with controls in MODBUS communicationPrevious experience working as an electricianExperience with medium voltage distributionExperience with control panel design and productionWorking knowledge of power coordination and arc flashAbility to work on multiple tasks concurrentlyHigh level of self-motivation, with the ability to work under minimal supervisionGood organizational skillsAbility to prioritize and schedule workloadStrong written and verbal communication skillsADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:Ability to pass Space Force background checks for VandenbergOverall mental fitness with the ability to work in a high-concentration, high-stress environment requiring prolonged mental concentration (under possible extended work hours)COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:Pay range:Electrical Engineer/Sr.: $130,000.00 - $180,000.00/per yearYour actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX.
