Minimum qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
2. 8 years of experience in software development, and with data structures/algorithms.
3. 7 years of experience building and developing infrastructure, distributed systems or networks, or with compute technologies, storage, or hardware architecture.
4. 5 years of experience with design and architecture; and testing/launching software products.

Preferred qualifications:

1. Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
2. 5 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction.
3. 3 years of experience working in an organization involving cross-functional, or cross-business projects.
4. Experience building high-performance distributed systems in storage domain.
5. Experience driving multi-year engineering projects across multiple teams and technical strategy for major software products.

GCS is part of GCP's storage product and a contributor to GCP’s business. As a Senior Staff Engineer for the team, you will be responsible for key aspects of technical direction and innovation strategy for GCS, with impact over business objectives.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $237,000-$337,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities:

1. Define and drive technical roadmap in the GCS serving domain, balance short and long-term technology investments, new product launches, and tech debt reduction.
2. Develop product roadmap for GCS with Product Managers, Engineering, and other cross-functional partners.
3. Drive adoption of hardware and software innovations across GCS stack in coordination with partners and customers.
4. Review technical designs from the team, guide technical discussions, and grow technical leaders.
