- Articulate the value of a solution, and its fit in a customer environment, with a focus on solution selling.
- Strong writing skills, and ability to prepare RFP/RFI responses in a clear and coherent manner, that emphasize the capabilities of the solution.
- Stay up to date on network security trends, especially in the area of perimeter security and DoS mitigation, cloud services, etc.
- Deliver technical overview and informal sales training of channel partners, integrators, and end-users.
- Meet or exceed quarterly and yearly product/service sales goals.
- Provide technical pre-sales support to various entities for the purpose of promoting and selling products/services. Entities include: potential customers, existing customers, partners, and resellers. Pre-sales activities will also include close interaction with internal groups such as product management, marketing, R&D and post-sales support.
- Provide technical leadership to enterprise customers through a range of pre-sales support functions including, supporting product evaluations, pre-sales technical consultation, post-sales support advocacy, and proactive needs analysis.
- Deliver technical presentations tailored for technical and non-technical audiences ranging from Network/Security admins to executive and C-Level.
Deliver consistent product training, technology updates, release updates, and roadmap information.

· Hands-on functional understanding of multiple firewalls platforms to include:
- Check Point Firewall-1, Provider-1, and VSX
- Cisco FWSM, PIX, CSM, ASA, routers and switches

- F5 load balancer
- Wireless technology
· Understanding of IP addressing including subnetting and supernetting.
· A deep current and historical understanding of firewall and security architecture.
· Hands-on functional understanding of supporting technologies such as SSH, LDAP, Active Directory, Radius, TACACS, SIEM, and event correlation.
· Hands-on functional understanding of parallel technologies such as VMware, SSL VPNs. Knowledge of Change Management Systems is a plus.
· Prepare designs and Technical proposals as per the RFP from the customer.
EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
- 3-5 years technical sales support in a pre-sales engineering role.
· Minimum of five years of experience in the implementation and operation of WAN/LAN networks with Cisco hardware.
· Minimum of two years of experience in the implementation and operation of Data Centre Networks.
- Demonstrated proficiency at system integration.
- Experience with load balancers, firewalls, web servers, caching, routing, switching and wireless.
- Knowledge of VPN, SSL and encryption related concepts.
- Knowledge of SNMP version 1, 2, 3 plus the ability to read MIBS.
- Good presentation, speaking and negotiation skills.
- Independent and self-motivated.
· Bachelor’s degree in the field of computer science with 5 to 7 years relevant work.
· Cisco Qualifications, CCNA/CCNP Preferred.
· Process Discipline and Documentation skills essential.
· Good communication (both verbal and written) skills.
· Planning and organizing skills.
· Able to operate effectively in a team environment with both technical and non-technical team members.
