JetZero is developing a blended wing aircraft that uses 50% less fuel and can accommodate zero-emission hydrogen propulsion. This is why we’re hiring a Landing Gear Systems Design Engineer. You will be responsible for the design, integration, verification, and validation of landing gear subsystems.

This role is based in Long Beach, CA, reporting to the Head of Landing Gear Systems.

What You'll Do

1. Use mechanical engineering fundamentals, analysis, and design software to create complete mechanical design concepts for robust, low-risk, and cost-efficient designs.
2. Detail design of landing gear components and airframe interfaces, in close coordination with various departments.
3. Identify areas of risk and develop prototypes and test methods to mitigate risk.
4. Understand the project scope, specifications, and any regulatory requirements applicable to the components being developed.
5. Participate in integration and coordination activities with various departments, suppliers, and certification authorities.
6. Complete additional analysis to ensure the design meets all project and production requirements.
7. Design and coordinate the build of an Iron Bird lab to test the landing gear systems.
8. Generate engineering drawings and design specifications.
9. Create system and equipment test plans and reports.
10. Support the fabrication and assembly processes as required.
11. Provide frequent communication to the Project Manager regarding project execution status, schedule, financial status, and scope changes.

Experience

1. Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or aerospace engineering from an accredited university.
2. Minimum 5 years of experience in system development of Part 25 landing gear systems, hydraulic systems, or other critical aircraft systems.
3. Extremely strong mechanical aptitude and ability to conceptualize and create mechanical designs.
4. Proficiency in using solid modeling CAD design software (Siemens NX highly preferred).

Salary Range: $160,000 - $175,000
