Description
We are seeking an experienced Lead Mechanical Engineer to join our innovative team at the Leidos Innovation Center (LInC) in San Diego. This position requires strong expertise in electro-mechanical integrated systems, material science, spacecraft systems, mechanisms, and mechanical design. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem solver who can independently identify and solve complex engineering challenges.
Primary Responsibilities
- Lead mechanical design projects, including tolerance analysis and creating part and assembly drawings.
- Prototype building, failure analysis, and implementing solutions.
- Develop innovative tooling solutions for various engineering applications.
- Mentor and support junior engineers in solving technical challenges.
Basic Qualifications
- 12+ years of relevant experience in a research and development environment.
- B.S. degree in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or related field.
- Proficiency with CAD software and GD&T.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Must reside in the San Diego, CA area or be willing to relocate.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret Security Clearance; U.S. Citizenship is required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Current TS/SCI clearance is preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in space product design, manufacturing, or support.
- Experience in designing for manufacturing and opto-mechanical systems.
- Experience with thermal and structural analysis.
- Previous work in a clean room environment.
