Lead Mechanical Engineer

Description

We are seeking an experienced Lead Mechanical Engineer to join our innovative team at the Leidos Innovation Center (LInC) in San Diego. This position requires strong expertise in electro-mechanical integrated systems, material science, spacecraft systems, mechanisms, and mechanical design. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem solver who can independently identify and solve complex engineering challenges.

Primary Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design projects, including tolerance analysis and creating part and assembly drawings.
• Prototype building, failure analysis, and implementing solutions.
• Develop innovative tooling solutions for various engineering applications.
• Mentor and support junior engineers in solving technical challenges.

Basic Qualifications

• 12+ years of relevant experience in a research and development environment.
• B.S. degree in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or related field.
• Proficiency with CAD software and GD&T.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Must reside in the San Diego, CA area or be willing to relocate.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret Security Clearance; U.S. Citizenship is required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Current TS/SCI clearance is preferred.
• 5+ years of experience in space product design, manufacturing, or support.
• Experience in designing for manufacturing and opto-mechanical systems.
• Experience with thermal and structural analysis.
• Previous work in a clean room environment.
