George Fox University's George Fox University's Plant Services team is looking for a dedicated, equipped, and hardworking individual to bring on as their Facilities Engineer and Project Manager.

About the Job:

The Facilities Engineer and Project Manager will oversee the comprehensive management of facilities projects, including planning, design, budgeting, scheduling, and construction. This role is essential in ensuring that projects are executed efficiently, on time, and within budget, while also aligning with organizational goals and standards.

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Leading and overseeing projects as assigned by the Assistant Vice President (AVP) of Facilities.
  • Project management: Overseeing projects from start to finish, including managing costs, schedules, and quality.
  • Team management: Leading a team of service providers, including guiding and providing feedback to team members.
  • Contract management: Interpreting and explaining contracts and negotiating with vendors and subcontractors. Creating policies and procedures to achieve best practices. Communicating policies and procedures and tracking adherence.
  • Communication: Keeping stakeholders informed about project progress, and providing recommendations for contract modifications.
  • Planning and scheduling: Developing conceptual plans and budgets, and preparing requests for proposals as needed. Creating work schedules, milestones, and timelines.
  • Budgeting: Preparing cost estimates, managing costs, and monitoring the budget.
  • Coordination: Coordinating with building committees and proponent groups, and assigning tasks to team members.
  • Quality control: Ensuring safety compliance and quality standards are met.
  • Resource Alignment: Developing and utilizing a Facilities Condition Index to support project priorities.
  • Permitting: As needed, securing necessary permits. Developing effective relations within the counties and cities that the university operates in.
  • Partnering with the Assistant Director of Facilities Maintenance as needed leading Plant Services in the absence of the AVP, Facilities.
  • Communicating effectively and courteously with others, including employees, students, and the public, in a spirit of teamwork, respect and customer service.
  • By actions, words, and lifestyle, be a Christian role model to students, whether through casual contact or in a formal supervisory role.
  • Demonstrating awareness, respect, and appreciation for diversity of culture, background, race, sex, political views, expressions of faith, etc. and works well with a variety of people.

A day in the life of this position:

In this dynamic role, you'll engage with stakeholders to refine project ideas and gather essential data in the field for conceptual projects. Your office time will involve reviewing plan sets for compliance with university standards, evaluating AIA contracts, and assessing minor proposals. You'll also track permits and liaise with local jurisdictions to ensure all regulatory requirements are met. Each day brings new challenges and opportunities to make a meaningful impact on our facilities and the community.

We're looking for candidates who have:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Civil, Structural, Mechanical or Project Engineering or a Bachelor's Degree in Project Management.
  • 5 years of experience in the desired fields listed.
  • A personal commitment to Jesus Christ and express their Christian testimony in a church. In addition, employees agree to live in agreement with the Community Lifestyle Statement and affirm the theological commitments expressed in the Statement of Faith.

  • Working Conditions: Physical requirements could include lifting more than 25 pounds and performing any activities such as balancing, bending/stooping, climbing stairs, crawling, crouching, climbing ladders, kneeling, repetitive motion or reaching above shoulder level.
