Our client is developing a full stack solution for rocket propellant production on the Moon & Mars. You will lead development of the autonomy system, from sensor selection through qualification and lunar surface operations.


Responsibilities

  • Take full responsibility for the autonomy system, from initial concept to operational deployment on the lunar surface.
  • Develop the complete autonomy architecture, including sensor selection, sensor fusion algorithms, and other software algorithms required for autonomous operations on the Moon and Mars.
  • Write high-performance, reliable, and maintainable code to support the autonomy of a fleet of lunar rovers.
  • Develop a comprehensive qualification plan for the autonomy system ahead of the first lunar mission.
  • Collaborate with the Embedded Software team to integrate autonomy algorithms into custom spacefaring hardware.
  • Contribute to architecture, design, and code reviews to ensure system quality and functionality..


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, OR demonstrated excellence in designing and developing autonomous vehicles through significant professional experience.
  • 5+ years of engineering experience, with at least 3 years focused on building autonomous vehicles.
  • Proven experience in selecting sensors for vehicle autonomy.
  • Proficiency in developing software algorithms for autonomy in aerospace, automotive, or robotics applications.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience developing, debugging, and deploying software used in real-world applications.
  • Expertise in integrating software onto custom electronic hardware.
  • Familiarity with start-up or agile development environments.
  • Professional experience in engineering leadership.
  • Strong desire and ability to develop software on accelerated timelines, demonstrating a high level of ownership and accountability.
