QA Engineer at Brivo in Bethesda, MD

About the Role

As the QA Engineer, your primary responsibility will be to ensure adequate testing and usability of development code prior to release to production. You will work with the Director of Software QA, Senior QA Engineers, and on an individual software development team. You will interface with Product Management staff as well as Engineering staff. The focus of this role will be to build technical expertise in our applications. As the QA engineer, you will focus on process efficiency and work products like tickets, test cases, user stories, etc.

In this role you will also be expected to:

1. Assist with the creation of sprint level test plans - including technical and business requirements
2. Identify risks and prepare mitigation plans
3. Assist Release Manager in preparing implementation timelines
4. Create user stories according to standards
5. Perform problem solving and root cause analysis when defects occur
6. Update Jira tickets according to standard
7. Engage with development teams in defect resolution
8. Participate on continuous improvement efforts within the larger Engineering/QA organization
9. Collaborate with product teams to proactively define and maintain test plans and test specifications for functional, regression, and performance testing
10. Perform thorough regression testing when bugs are resolved

About You

• 3 years software QA or relevant experience
• Clear communicator both written and verbal
• Solid understanding of the software development lifecycle
• Proven ability to work effectively in a team setting as well as independently
• Ability to act as subject matter expert for software development teams
• Knowledge of Agile/Scrum development process
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving/decision-making skills
• Experience testing mobile applications
• Experience testing web applications

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with Jira, Confluence, Google Docs, Selenium Webdriver, Xamerian test suite, Mabl

Salary Range: $80K -- $100K

Minimum Qualification: Software Development, Quality Assurance

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications
