Overview
CAES is seeking a Principal Radar Engineer to support the development and transition to manufacturing of innovative radars. In this position you will work in a highly motivated team environment to develop and manufacture millimeter wave radars incorporating state of the art "Radar on a Chip" ASICs provided by our strategic partner. You will support radar concept development, detailed radar design, radar testing and transition to manufacturing. This role is in San Jose, CA and relocation is available if required. There is the potential of hybrid work, depending on the skills/tenure of the successful candidate with strictures and travel on an as needed basis to other CAES sites.
Responsibilities
- Radar concept development including: radar waveform design; radar performance analysis using MIMO and/or phased array operation; and RF aperture definition.
- Detailed radar design including requirements flow down to radiating elements, RF components, digital communications interfaces, DC bias circuitry, thermal/mechanical and software. Close interaction with team members working in all of these areas is required.
- Lead radar integration and bring up including antenna range testing and field testing.
- Mature the radar design based on lessons learned.
- Transition radar design to manufacturing.
- Participate in customer and supplier visits and teleconferences.
- Develop and maintain documentation.
Qualifications
Minimum:
- BS in Electrical Engineering.
- 8+ years of experience directly related radar development and testing.
- This position requires access to technology, materials, software or hardware that is controlled by US export laws. In order to be eligible for this position, you must be a "US Person" under US export laws (or eligible for approval under a U.S. Government export license).
- Ability to obtain and maintain security clearance.
Preferred:
- 12+ years directly related radar experience or graduate degree and 5+ years of experience.
- Knowledge of technologies used within mmWave radars.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Salary Range: $155,000 - $200,000 annually. Applicable pay within the posted range may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, geographical location, job function of the position, education, and experience of the successful candidate.
