Senior Product Design Engineer-Floor Care Products

To support our growth in the US, Midea is expanding its research and innovation capabilities at Midea America Research Center (MARC). With this objective, MARC seeks a Senior Product Design Engineer-Floor Care Products.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

1. Responsible for the concepting and structural design of floor care products, ensuring the functionality and reliability of new floor care product designs. Conceive, lead, and develop innovative new floor care concepts.
2. Develop appropriate testing protocols for new products and designs incorporating appropriate regulatory and agency considerations.
3. Drive early to mid-stage concept validation for floor care products and features, collaborating with Suzhou factory to verify manufacturability.
4. Participate in the early consumer insight evaluation of innovative product concepts and prototypes.
5. Assure final product implementation meets US needs and assist manufacturing to resolve any issues.
6. Guide design intent through full development cycle to assure product meets US needs.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree or above in mechanical engineering, materials science, or other related engineering fields.
2. At least 5-10 years of experience in the design and development of consumer products.
3. More than 3 years of experience in product structural design.
4. Be capable of independently undertaking development projects.
5. Experience in developing IoT-related products is preferred.
6. Proficiency in Arduino, Raspberry Pi, sensor, and other controls prototyping is an advantage.
7. Familiar with user-centered design and development principles, and knowledgeable about various prototype manufacturing methods and concept validation techniques.
8. Proficient in using CAD design software (Creo preferred).
9. Good communication, coordination, and project management skills.
10. Thorough understanding of product and component reliability needs and development of testing plans.
11. Knowledge of floor care test standards as well as agency and regulatory requirements.
12. Strong problem-solving and failure analysis skills.
13. Goal-oriented and self-motivated, creative, and resourceful.

This is a full-time position. Some domestic and international travel is required.
