Pacific Life is investing in bright, agile and diverse talent to contribute to our mission of innovating our business and creating a superior customer experience. We’re actively seeking a talented Senior Data Engineer to join our Data Engineering in Newport Beach, CA. This role will be hybrid.
As a Senior Data Engineer, you’ll play a key role in Pacific Life’s growth and long-term success by increasing the speed and confidence in making data-driven decisions based on consistent and trustworthy consolidated data. You will fill an existing role that sits on a team of 6 people in the Consumer Markets division. Your colleagues will include Data Architects and Data Engineer professionals.
How You Will Make An Impact
- Work with technology and business stakeholders to understand data requirements
- Create low-level design artifacts, including mapping specifications.
- Build scalable and reliable data pipelines to support data ingestions (batch/streaming) and transformation from multiple data sources using SQL, AWS, Snowflake, and data integration technologies.
- Create unit/integration tests and implement automated build and deployment.
- Participate in code reviews to ensure standards and best practices.
- Deploy, monitor, and maintain production systems.
- Create and update user stories in backlog
- Collaborate with product owner, analysts, architects, QA and other team members
- Works independently, receives minimal guidance.
- Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience
The Experience You Will Bring
- 8+ years of experience
- BS Degree: IT, CS, Data Science or Statistics or equivalent experience
- Strong ELT /ETL experience using Matillion, coding complex transformations (Not just extract/load mappings)
- Minimum 1 year hands on experience working in Snowflake
- Hands on Experience (not just training or POC) in using Git, Python, AWS Lambda
- Expert in SQL-based database management
- Cloud architecture, security, and infrastructure

- CI/CD Experience using Azure Dev Ops, Build and Release pipelines
- Control M Experience
- Informatica Experience
- Data Engineer Certificate from AWS/Google/Azure

Base Pay Range
The base pay range noted provides a basis to determine the appropriate offer dependent upon several factors including but not limited to geographic location, experience, skills, education and pay equity. Also, most employees are eligible for additional incentive pay. $125,400.00 - $156,700.00 - $211,600.00
