Planate is a small business provider of planning, design, infrastructure management, technical consulting, engineering, and construction management services in support of the US Department of Defense (DOD) and its Service (Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps) missions, along with other US federal agencies, all over the world.We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Structural Engineer to join our team at Camp Lemonnier, Djibouti.As a Civil/Structural Engineer, you will support multiple designs and/or construction projects ranging from an estimated construction cost of $20,00 to $15 million. You will be assigned to projects in different phases from concept development, plan review, and recommendations to construction support management and inspection services.This position is in the proposal stage and if awarded the period of performance is until 2030 . If you are employed, you will get to enjoy the following benefits:Base Salary : $150,000 – 180,000/yrAccommodation and Transportation – providedCommunication Allowance – providedR/R Break – 21 days PTO per year (paid roundtrip travel to home country)Paid long vacation trips to Dubai or Kenya per yearHealthcare and Life InsuranceLicense registration/renewal benefitsVisa processing supportWork Schedule : 50 hours per week; Monday – FridayDuties and Responsibilities:Review and provide input on conceptual designs, charrettes, pre-final and final submittals, shop drawings, and documents prepared by NAVFAC personnel, NAVFAC contracted A&E design firms, and other contracted firmsAssist the government in developing conceptual designs, charrettes, pre-final, and final design documentsAssist the government in post award design services and post construction award services for design submittals, construction submittals, and shop drawingsAssist the government developing estimates of quantities and cost estimates for construction projectsParticipate in conferences with project stakeholders and collaborates with other engineering and architectural disciplines to ensure system coordination and integration with specific project requirementsProvide general engineering support for projects that include but are not limited to : calculation of environmental and blast loads; analysis and design of vertical and lateral force resisting system, shallow and deep foundations, retaining structures, and utility supports; and design of structural elements using common building materials (concrete, steel and timber).Qualifications to be successful in the role :Must hold a Professional Engineer (PE) license in Civil Engineering issued by a U.S. state, commonwealth, territory, or the District of ColumbiaMust be a U.S. Passport holderA minimum of 10 years of professional civil engineering - structural code compliant facilities design experience for new construction and renovation design experienceBachelor’s or master’s degree in civil engineering with emphasis in structural engineering from an ABET-accredited program supplemented by a considerable amount of hands-on facilities design experienceProvide a timely and professional specialized structural engineering support, including cost engineering support, services and consultation for the planning, design, construction and maintenance of facilities for the Navy, Marine Corps, and other Supported Commands, including minor works projects, specific projects, special projects, military construction (MILCON), demolition, maintenance, space utilization and facilities developmentExpert in advanced structural engineering concepts, principles and practices as they apply to a wide range of shore facilities, including piers, housing, medical facilities, and aviation facilitiesIn depth knowledge of DOD and Navy guide specifications, criteria, policy, industry codes and standards, and standard practices as related to structural and civil engineering design including the International Building Code and ASCE 7 (Minimum Design Loads for Buildings and Other Structures)Professional knowledge and skill conducting studies and analysis of requirements for cost, labor, and/or materials; evaluation and advice on cost estimates and contract change ordersSkill in the use of software/systems, such as Whole Building Design Guide (WBGD), AutoCAD, structural design/analysis software, Specs-In-Tact technologies, Microsoft Office products, cost engineering software, and other applicable DoD computer systems.Why Planate?Planate Management Group is an Affirmative Action and Equal Opportunity Employer.
