Overview
The Senior Electrical Engineer position is a full-time exempt position. The successful candidate will work on a team designing and integrating printed circuit boards for an innovative missile flight research concept. The design will incorporate some existing missile components and standard interfaces. The individual will work closely with a small multi-disciplined team and customer technical stakeholders to take the concept through initial design milestones, development test, and flight-test events. The individual will be responsible for executing technical responsibilities and reporting to a program manager in the Cummings Aerospace Huntsville office. Some travel to customer sites for technical meetings and test events may be required.
Responsibilities
  • Electrical design for circuit boards to accomplish functions within an operating missile. The board (s) will interface with sensors, propulsion, and actuation and implement guidance and flight control laws to achieve flight-test objectives. This includes concept definition, modification of existing designs, implementing development hardware in a hardware in the loop (HWIL) laboratory, development test, design updates, and implementing the ECU in a flight suitable form-factor.
  • Complete PCB design to include schematic capture, BOM generation, PCB placement/routing, fabrication drawings, assembly drawings, bring-up, integration, acceptance testing
  • Electrical design for other missile components including the electrical power system, telemetry unit interface, offboard interface, and harnessing electrical definition.
  • Work closely with the software and electrical engineering team to perform peer review and testing roles
  • Lead and/or support and conduct of component, system, and subsystem testing.
  • Support the development and implementation of engineering procedures as required
  • Document and present analysis results to technical leads, management, and/or customers
  • Ensure corporate policies and procedures are adhered to in the day-to-day performance of duties
  • Support program meetings and technical reviews with internal and external customers
  • Support other duties as assigned
Skills and Competencies
  • BS degree in Electrical Engineering or a related relevant field
  • At least 10 years of experience with electrical system design and development for DoD program required.
  • Experience with Altium Designer and working with database libraries required
  • Experience with LTspice, AutoCAD, CAM350 or other electrical design tools desired
  • Experience with flight computer design, integration, and testing desired
  • Experience with electro-mechanical control actuation systems desired
  • Experience with FPGA based SoCs incorporating multiple microcontroller cores desired
  • Experience with electrical communication bus standards (RS-422/485, RS-232, etc.) desired
  • Ability to work in a dynamic customer-site team environment, representing the company in a professional manner
  • Ability to adapt to changing requirements and design implementations
  • Good oral and written communication skills are required
  • Ability to organize work and deliver on time work products
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time
  • Ability to bend, stretch and lift up to 10 pounds occasionally
Clearance
  • Active Secret Clearance Required
