Darigold is looking for a Project Engineering Manager to join our Sunnyside location in Washington. The ideal candidate will be technically strong, experienced in project management, highly motivated and willing to take on a wide variety of responsibilities and schedule requirements. The position contributes to the successful upgrade of Darigold's manufacturing facilities through the management of capital upgrades.
What You Will Do

  • The position is responsible for conducting engineering assessments, cost estimates, design requirements and management of capital construction projects ranging up to $10MM.
  • The position is instrumental in ensuring delivery of engineering / construction services to the Darigold manufacturing facilities. Daily interaction with contractors and vendors on the factory floor is a core job component. This is a hands-on position.
  • Will work closely with plant management and corporate staff on development of project scope, process design, capital and expense estimates, contractor / vendor selection, equipment specifications and purchases, implementation of timelines and coordination of execution plans.
  • Utilize Darigold construction standards and ensure standards compliance throughout all aspects of the projects.
  • The position is required to efficiently lead project teams consisting of Darigold employees and contractors jointly working toward the project goals, while managing multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-moving environment.
  • The position is required to always track project schedule and budget performance. The candidate must be proficient in developing, maintaining and communicating project schedules using tools such as Microsoft Project. The candidate must be highly skilled in establishing project budgets, tracking all committed and actual expenses, and performing all aspects of project closing.
  • The position will coordinate all projects with Environmental, Safety, Production, Maintenance QA, Accounting and all other Darigold departments.
  • The position will be responsible for all engineering details required for the successful design and construction or projects, owning them from concept to closing.
  • The position will work with plant management in the development of the annual capital budget.
  • The position will be based in our Sunnyside plant and will also support our Spokane plant. The candidate must be willing to support all Darigold facilities (WA-OR-ID-MT).
What You Bring:
  • Minimum 10 years project management experience in a food manufacturing plant including 5+ years in dairy processing, with proven ability to successfully manage projects to budget and schedule requirements.
  • The candidate must have a solid understanding of manufacturing processes, utility systems and use of automation in production processes.
  • The candidate must be fluent in the use of P&ID's and problem-solving using data collected from historian databases and process trends.
  • A bachelor's degree in mechanical, chemical engineering, or related degree is required.
  • The position requires strong engineering and problem-solving skills in heat transfer, fluid dynamics, tank, pump and piping applications, CIP system design and use, packaging processes and warehouse applications.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills are required, with the ability to manage multiple, rapidly changing priorities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
