We are hiring Journey-level Electricians. You will be a member of the Facilities, Finance, and Analytics (FAA) team responsible for the electrical systems in multiple locations at DSHS's Medical Lake healthcare campus. You will perform skilled installation, maintenance, and repair work on electrical equipment and systems.

  • You'll have a stable, fixed day shift schedule of consistent work, with usually a three-day weekend off.
  • No traveling for electrician work or waiting for a new assignment.
  • You'll work with an interesting blend of old and new technology, working on a variety of equipment.
  • The work that you do safeguards the resources needed to care for and support our clients.

Opportunities performed on-site at this work location at least three days a week may be eligible for an additional 5% premium pay in addition to the advertised salary.

Some of what you will do
  • Maintain and repair assigned emergency electrical generators including; Performing monthly emergency generator tests and recording the test results
  • Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electric motors, and motor control systems including; domestic water deep well pumps, HVAC motors, commercial laundry/food equipment, PLCs, etc.
  • Troubleshoot and repair fire alarms, nurse call, and monitor control interfacing systems
  • Maintain and install communication systems including; telephone, computer, CCTV, fiber optic, etc.
  • Maintain interior and exterior lighting system components including; lamps, ballasts, contractors, photocells, and electrical and electronic timers
  • Operate electrical test equipment including; phase rotation meters, voltmeters, fiber line tester, megger, etc.
  • Maintain and install alarm system components
  • Maintain patient care equipment
  • Develop an estimate of time and material for assigned projects
We are looking for someone with

Valid driver's license and currently licensed as an EL01 through WA State L&I with electrical experience obtained through at least one of the following:

  • Completion of an accredited Electrical Apprenticeship program
  • Or, full journey status with an electrical workers union
  • Or, four years experience of applicable work experience in the electrical field
  • Or, vocational training may be substituted for work experience on a year-for-year basis

And, currently have NICET 2 license, or the ability to obtain NICET 2 within first 12 months of employment.

Desired Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

  • Two years commercial experience
  • Knowledge of standard practices, methods, materials, tools, and equipment of the electrical trade; electrical codes; and safety precautions
  • Ability to work from blueprints, plans, and sketches
  • Ability to estimate materials and time needed to complete jobs
