Job Description
Process engineering position focused on manufacturing and testing Night Vision Goggles. A successful candidate will have proficiency in the use of hand and machine tools, precision gauges, test instruments, and process equipment. They should have an understanding and apply Six-Sigma tools to reduce waste and improve efficiency. The individual can expect to spend time doing data analysis as well as engaging directly with the factory teams on the shop floor to be most effective.
The Manufacturing Engineer position responsibilities include:
- Working with and training bargaining unit employees to improve work processes and product quality.
- Daily hand-on floor support to evaluate and to process floor reworks.
- Optimizing manufacturing and testing processes/ equipment and implementing cost reduction opportunities (yield and productivity improvements, waste elimination).
- Using data analytics techniques to help identify areas of concern to be worked on or areas of improvement.
- Conduct root cause analysis.
- Diagnosing process and equipment issues and working with maintenance teams to keep equipment running optimally.
- Working to minimize or eliminate safety, quality, delivery, inventory, and productivity problems.
- Using process equipment, test instruments, and precision gauges in appropriate situations.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Qualifications
- This position requires the candidate to be able to obtain a security clearance.
- BS in Electrical, Mechanical, Materials Engineering, Physics or equivalent.
- Ability to respect, work and collaborate well with others with a range of technical capabilities from process operator to production supervisor to engineering colleagues.
- Effective communication and documentation skills.
- Proficiency with MS Office products such as Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or equivalents.
- Strong analytical abilities and trouble-shooting techniques.
- Capable of performing process engineering tasks proportionate to their experience.
- Good interpersonal and organizational skills are required.
- Must be able to comply with OSHA, EPA, Fire Regulations, Company Policies and Procedures.
- Ability to handle multiple high priorities.
Preferred Skills:
- Technical experience in a manufacturing environment doing yield and process improvement work.
- Experience with statistical analysis software; Minitab, JMP, SAS, R or others.
- Prior experience in night vision and optics related filed is a plus.
- Prior clean room production experience.
- Experience writing MS Access queries (linking multiple tables, using If statements or other functions, etc.…) or equivalent programming understanding.
- Ability to collaborate with facets of the Night Vision organization outside of engineering.
- Willingness to be a team player who sometimes works independently and sometimes with teammates.
