We are dedicated to providing our customers with unsurpassed service in underwriting, claims management, risk management, and providing innovative solutions to complex insurance needs.


We are seeking an independent contractor with senior ColdFusion developer experience to work with our Application Development team to enhance and support mission-critical applications. This person will design, develop, and maintain web applications using Adobe ColdFusion throughout the remaining life of the project. The ideal person will have extensive experience with ColdFusion development with a strong background in web development technologies and relational database concepts and design. Collaboration with stakeholders will be essential to understand requirements, develop technical solutions, and ensure the performance, security, and scalability of applications.


The expected project length is 6 months, with potential extensions in one-month increments. A 30-day notice will be given when the project is nearing the end.


We are looking for someone who is available to work up to 40 hours per week, with availability to be on calls or attend meetings with stakeholders and the Application Development team when necessary. The team works during the hours of 9:00 AM PT and 5:00 PM PT.


Project Assignments

  • Develop and maintain web applications using ColdFusion, including coding, testing, debugging, and troubleshooting.
  • Collaborate with business analysts and stakeholders to gather and analyze requirements, translating them into technical specifications and design documents.
  • Integrate ColdFusion applications with databases (e.g., SQL Server) to store and retrieve data efficiently.
  • Develop user interfaces and user experiences (UI/UX) that are intuitive, responsive, and user-friendly.
  • Identify and address performance bottlenecks, optimize code, and implement caching mechanisms to improve application performance.
  • Implement security best practices to protect against vulnerabilities such as SQL injection, cross-site scripting (XSS), and cross-site request forgery (CSRF).
  • Utilize version control systems (e.g., Git) to manage source code and collaborate with other developers effectively.
  • Create technical documentation, including design documents, code comments, and deployment guides, to facilitate maintenance and knowledge transfer.
  • Develop and execute unit tests, integration tests, and user acceptance tests to ensure the quality and reliability of applications.
  • Provide ongoing maintenance and support for existing ColdFusion applications and SQL Stored Procedures, including troubleshooting issues, applying patches, and implementing enhancements.

Qualifications:

  • High-level proficiency in Adobe ColdFusion, including CFML (ColdFusion Markup Language), CFScript, and ColdFusion Administrator.
  • Experience with relational databases and SQL, including database design, optimization, and querying.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues efficiently.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to writing clean, well-organized, and maintainable code.
  • Knowledge of the insurance domain is a plus.

We require that Independent Contractors have an agreement on file and E&O insurance. A business license or DBA may be required, depending on the state of residence, to verify independent contractor status.


Independent Contractors are not employees of the Company and are not eligible for Company benefits. All services are invoiced to the company for payment per the terms established in the Independent Contractor Agreement.


Compensation:

  • $45-$70 per hour DOE.
